Sometimes a bit hit and miss with their customer service. I go to Costa in Tring at least once a week, usually at the weekend, so I do expect it to be busy and I am prepared to queue. The member of staff that takes my order doesn’t usually offer an apology or a ‘thanks for waiting’ though. I have had occasions where I have given over my Costa loyalty card but the points haven’t been put on, meaning I’ve had to take the receipt back and get them added, so a bit frustrating. On occasion they do get my order wrong, then I feel a bit rude trying to get the baristas attention to tell them, especially if there are a lot of people waiting for their drinks to be made, I feel like I’m ‘pushing in’ as it were. The tables aren’t always clean and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a member of staff wipe a table down. They will collect dirty cups etc. and take them away, but not wipe the tables. The highchairs seem very unhygienic; I always take my own wipes to wipe them down before I put my one-year-old in them. There are usually old food bits on the seat and the straps are just filthy. Read moreThere is no humour in this review, sadly. I was treated with despicable hostility and impatience for no explicable reason at my local Tring Costa by one woman.
I was feeling fragile anyway, a bit fumbly, because her imptience was clear. The place was calm, almost empty.. no need for the rush. I brought up her manner gently, but it got worse where she ranted at me, incomprehensible, until I put my hand up and said,'Stop...stop talking at me'.. I would have just liked my coffee and food to go and did not want to listen to her anymore. Even then, I had to ask her twice to stop ranting at me. I have been using my local Costa for 24 years, and now I don't want to use it anymore. People have bad days, and I am really forgiving of this, but.....
I am also SICK to death of their poo brown colour scheme... it is not very Spanish, and it seems like it could do with a coat of paint inside.
If you need a designer Costa- look me up. We have a little Italian further down where buying from them is an experience . I know Costa is a franchise, but it is popular, so they need to look after it better.
