Peri Peri Original Hemel Hempstead Marlowes — Restaurant in Dacorum

Really really disappointed with this place. Decided to order from here after getting off the National Express from Gatwick. The whole experience was negative from beginning to end to say the least. When we entered the shop it was filthy, there were leaves everywhere even behind the counter. It was a Saturday night, the place was empty and there was one staff member on the phone who seemed to be irritated by having to answer customer questions on the phone. He kept on rolling his eyes while on the phone and we (other customers) were watching him.

When my wife and I checked into the hotel we immediately sat down to eat and I have to say I was disgusted with what I was presented with. The chicken burger I got was smelly. The chicken breast itself seemed to smell rotten and seems undercooked.. I spat out the first little bite and threw it in the bin. The 3 fried chicken wings I got were those humongous GM wings with more meat but no taste and the also just seemed wrong in how they tasted. My wife's 2 pieces of chicken seemed undercooked. My chips were soggy, there was no pepper even though the man insisted he put salt and pepper in the bag - he didn't. The only remotely edible thing were the peri peri extra hot grilled wings, but even they had a smelly after taste like the chicken was old or rotten. I think the only reason I could eat them was because I ordered them extra well done..

Anyways I have been to many different peri peri original takeaways, they are usually quite good but I have to say this one is the worst fast food shop I have been to in my life. Disgusting would not be an understatement. This was my first and last time going to that particular establishment and now that I have been there I could honestly say you could not even pay me to eat there again!

On a side note just judging from their general conduct and apparent lack of honesty, I would SERIOUSLY question the old halal sign on the blade...

Trust. Bossman always nices me with the freshest chicken, also I know the supplier these chicken come fresh from the abattoir only the halalest munch privately couriered right to the door. The wings have that special crunch, not too oily but oily enough to appreciate. Lil bit salty and with that space that's enough to get your tongue on the low key burn but not enough to have you weeping for the next ten mins. Inside tho, lush cooked to the bone bright white chicken, none of those red bloody stringy bits you find in these 3Rd rate chicken establishments. The burgers are flame grilled none of this microwave or oven bollocks. Tell bossman how u like it is personally a xrtra hot with a bit of lemon type of guy. The breast comes in the burger. You get these places where half the breast is out of the burger nahhh none of that over at peri. The buns have that thin dusting of flour - key to soak up any leftover seasoning. And just a good dollop of mayo. And bossman has YouTube on the screen, get him to stream ur favourite bangers while u munch. What more...

We always ordered from Lawn Lane and then decided to change to Marlowes for convenience. Seems alrite but they always as usual never put CHEESE in a CHEESE BURGER!!Always have to call and complain about it.Now this is 2nd time that when we placed an order over the phone for collection,they never have it ready.It was more quicker to order for delivery than stand around and wait.The excuse is "the shop just opened,i didn't know that it wasn't opened".This time.the order took 45mins again;got late picking kids from school aswell and the food was dry!Ordered chicken tikka burger extremely dry and burnt.All the cheese burgers lacked mayonnaise and no CHEESE AGAIN!Very disappointed and will not be ordering from this peri peri again.I was not the only customer waiting.Someone had ordered kofta kebab for 3pm and was told 10min wait and they had also got late to pick up their daughter from school.The dad went and got their daughter and the kofta still wasn't ready!
