Wakusei in Hemel Hempstead is an absolute culinary gem that never fails to amaze with its exquisite Japanese cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting ambiance sets the stage for a remarkable dining experience. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the Takoyaki Octopus balls - 5pcs. These delectable little treats are an explosion of flavor in every bite. The crispy exterior gives way to a heavenly burst of savory goodness that dances on your taste buds. It's an absolute must-try for anyone visiting Wakusei. The sushi at Wakusei is a work of art, prepared with precision and showcasing the freshest ingredients. Each piece is beautifully presented, and the flavors are perfectly balanced, leaving us longing for more. Whether you're a sushi connoisseur or new to the world of Japanese cuisine, Wakusei's sushi is sure to impress. The Udun noodles were another highlight of our meal. The rich, comforting broth and tender noodles made for a satisfying and soul-warming dish. It's the perfect choice for those seeking a heartier option that still delivers on flavor and authenticity. The staff at Wakusei are attentive and friendly, ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience is top-notch. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to offer recommendations adds a personal touch that enhances the overall enjoyment of the meal. The attention to detail and dedication to quality are evident in every dish served at Wakusei. From the appetizers to the main courses, each plate is a masterpiece of flavors and textures that showcase the best of Japanese cuisine. Overall, Wakusei in Hemel Hempstead is a true gem for food enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable Japanese dining experience. The Takoyaki Octopus balls alone are worth the visit, but the entire menu will leave you in awe of the culinary wonders that this restaurant offers. I highly recommend Wakusei to anyone in search of an amazing dining experience filled with explosive flavors and delightful surprises. It's a place I'll surely return to whenever I crave the best of Japanese cuisine.

Third time dining in this Culinary Jewel and its time I gave it the review it deserved. Food is fantastic and reflects the passion put into it by the Chef. It always comes to the table immaculately presented and in a respectable portion. There's a wide variety on the menu with each dish being distinctive in its taste. The drinks menu while not extensive offers a variety of different wines, soft drinks and Sake. Both food and drink are reasonably priced and most certainly hold their value. Waiting times are short. The staff are extremely helpful and available at a moments notice should anything be required, they're not intrusive and offer advice on the contents of the menu so you know what you're ordering. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, music is good and the table layout is appropriate to the order. Of course being a Japanese restaurant, chop sticks are a default however cutlery is available if needed. The restaurant is maintained to a very high standard of cleanliness throughout. All in all, no complaints from me. Overall this restaurant is worth the 5 star rating and in my opinion, doesn't recieve the attention it deserves. Give this restaurant a go!

Thoroughly impressed and satisfied! The menu boasted an impressive selection of Japanese delicacies, from classic sushi rolls to ramen and donburi bowls. Each dish was thoughtfully presented and flavourful, showcasing the chef's skill and attention to detail. The sushi rolls was a highlight of the meal, featuring fresh fish and well-seasoned rice. Each piece melted in my mouth, and did not have that typical “fishy” flavour you often get with fish that is no longer fresh. Aside from the sushi, the hot dishes were equally impressive. The chicken katsu curry was succulent and flavorful, while the vegetable tempura was light and crispy, perfectly complementing the main courses. Service at Wakusei was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and made recommendations, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was top-notch. Whether you're a die-hard sushi enthusiast or simply appreciate good food, a visit to Wakusei is sure to leave you satisfied and eager to return.

Literally nothing I ordered is good. I don’t understand. The prices are extremely high end. Yet nothing is good. Literally nothing cat be ate in my 50£ meal. My 12 piece sushi is limp, sweaty and warm texture like it’s been left out all day on a hot counter and it’s not firm it’s like jelly. The egg is green brown underneath like it’s an old egg. Homemade Ramen?? Not a chance it’s homemade. It’s like those instant noodles you buy as a college student when you have no money to buy or cook decent food. I never saw such itty thready noodles but they are stuck together in a lump. Rice is definitely NoT cooked fresh. Again all stuck together in thick lump. I ordered salmon teriyaki you gave me chicken or pork or??? . Not salmon. What is the meat on my soup? It’s actually the taste of sliced supermarket sandwich meat. Just heated up. Again, I’m afraid to eat it. I asked for no added sweet corn and you gave me sweet corn. I asked for no Kimchi and you gave me kimchi. It was the end of the day maybe you were just wanting to go home and not care about the amount a customer is spending in hopes of a delicious home cooked dinner. You do realise for some people 50£ is a ton of money? Ask the homeless man sleeping across the street from your restaurant what he would expect to get for a 50£ dinner. You’re reviews are good. But your food was horrible so what happened??? I think you need to refund me for this terrible food. 50 pounds is a fortune to spend. But if food is good I can say I treated myself kindly. But if it’s 50£ for end of the day reheated food, the wrong meat, items I specifically said I don’t want, seafood that I’m afraid to eat because I don’t want food poisoned you know? I’m so sad about this food and the amount it cost me!! Do the right thing and refund me please....

I was very excited about this restaurant opening, unfortunately I was let down. When walking in to the restaurant we were greeted by the manager who kindly opened the door for us. We were then left with a waitress that asked if we had a reservation. We did not as the website had been down all day. Regardless, we told her no and we’re shown a table to sit at… it was a table with 2 chairs even tho there was 3 of us and a baby. I had to ask for another chair. We then sat there for 10 minutes before a waiter asked if we wanted some menus…. Let that just sink in. Anyway, the waitress that took out order was very friendly and very knowledgeable. She helped me answer a few questions about items on the menu. The only thing she got wrong was telling me they do Coke Zero and then bringing me a Diet Coke.

So 20 minutes later we got our starter of takoyaki which was absolutely delicious. I finished my 2 pieces in seconds. I did however had to get up and ask for 2 forks for my wife and child as they can’t use chopsticks. These never came and they had to use their hands.

After another 30 minutes of waiting our main finally came. I ordered the ramen which was just ok. The broth was very bland and nothing blew me away. My wife’s meal was completely inedible, the udon noodles were undercooked and tasted like play dough.

When we went to pay we explained how we felt and the manager and cashier were very understanding and apologetic. They explained how they had just opened and it was quite overwhelming for them. They took my wife’s food off the bill and also knocked 30% off.

Overall I would visit here again but once they gain the experience and customer...
