La Rustica on Nether Hall Road in Doncaster is a little gem for Italian food lovers. The menu is packed with Mediterranean dishes that feel both classic and a bit modern, and everything’s made with fresh, quality ingredients. They’ve even got options for gluten-free and vegetarian diners, so everyone’s covered. The vibe here is super relaxed but still feels special. There’s a cool split-level setup with a bar upstairs, perfect if you want to grab a drink before diving into the food. Downstairs, it’s all rustic charm with a cosy brick cellar setting that makes it feel like a real authentic Italian spot. What really stands out is the service. The staff are so welcoming and go out of their way to make you feel at home. If you’re celebrating something, they’ll make it extra special—think decorated tables and even singing you a birthday tune if you’re into that sort of thing. The food? Top-notch. From the pasta to the mains, everything’s bursting with flavour. Add to that the warm atmosphere and reasonable prices, and you’ve got yourself a winner. Whether it’s a casual night out or a special occasion, La Rustica is definitely worth a visit. You’ll leave happy and full!

We had a truly lovely evening at La Rustica in Doncaster. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed—perfect for a cozy dinner with friends or family. A special shoutout to Saul, our waiter, who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well looked after. He was incredibly pleasant, with impeccable manners and a genuine warmth that made the experience even more memorable. It's rare to come across service that feels both professional and personal, and Saul absolutely nailed it. The food itself was everything you'd hope for from a Italian kitchen—rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. From the starters to the mains, each dish had that comforting, home-style taste that transports you straight to the Mediterranean. We especially appreciated the attention to detail and the generous portions. If you're looking for Italian cuisine in Doncaster with standout service, La Rustica is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!

La Rustica Last night, we went to La Rustica in Doncaster. This was our first visit but it had been highly recommended by many people. The main dining area is in the brick vaulted basement which has a great atmosphere - like one big party! It’s chic, it’s romantic, it’s hip and it’s casual - all at the same time. The restaurant was packed solid when we arrived, and needs to be booked well in advance to secure a table. We had anti pasta sharing platters, seafood and bruschetta to begin. We chose chicken carbonara, seafood linguine, salmon and asparagus linguine, and chicken with garlic and chilli for main courses served with delicious garlic bread. The food was excellent, all freshly cooked to order and delicious!! The staff are amazing, and coped with the packed restaurant with ease - there were no mistakes with our orders, and everything was delivered efficiently and on time.

Amazing food, even better service. Visited this restaurant for my dad’s birthday, along with 8 of my family. The restaurant was very busy, and it was only a Tuesday evening (which I think is usually a good sign). 2 of the party were small children, one with allergies to oats, milk, soy etc. Our waitress Maria had complete knowledge of the menu and went out of her way to organise vegan ingredients (without oats) were purchased from a store nearby so my nephew could enjoy a meal (and the 2.5 year old ate his entire pizza). This was just one display of how brilliant Maria was. She was quick to organise our tables drinks and deliver them, gave us time to explore the menu and took our orders in perfect time, there wasn’t a single moment we felt rushed or forgotten, exemplary service and intuition from Maria. I can’t remember the last time I received such perfect service from start to finish. She has great humour, is smiley, happy, approachable and knowledgeable, a total asset to the restaurant. The other waitress and mixologist/bar man were also entirely lovely and gave great service (didn’t catch their names). The food was delicious, good portion sizes, lovely and flavoursome and it’s clear a lot of love and time goes into making, designing and presenting the dishes. Really great Italian menu, which has options for everyone, and doesn’t overdo it with a silly amount of linguine and pasta choices (just the right amount of diverse options). Atmosphere is great too, and upstairs and a downstairs, with decor that feels very authentically Italian, and music playing at the right volume (which is where so many go wrong, when it’s so loud you can’t have conversations). It’s a must visit, can’t wait to go back! The best customer service and incredible food! Couldn’t fault a...

I’m not sure if we caught them on a bad day, but was sadly not impressed with the restaurant or food at all!

We had the sharing antipasti board for starter, which consisted of a couple pieces of cheap meat, including regular packet ham, and one slither of mozzarella on top of a huge pile of shredded lettuce, alongside a couple of pieces of stale bread. We also shared the prawns, which were okay and probably the nicest part of the whole meal.

I had the lamb shank for main which was merely okay. The gravy resembled KFC gravy which was confusing for the dish. It did not come with any vegetables and so I had to order these separately bringing the total price of the dish to £31, which considering the quality seems overpriced.

My partner had the slow cooked beef tagliatelle. The sauce was nice but the chunks of meat resembled tinned meat.

There was multiple tables around us filled with teenagers in tracksuits and sliders which didn’t particularly fit the authentic Italian vibe.

The staff were friendly and service was okay, however, there seemed to be an excess of staff loitering around for the amount of tables that are...
