We booked a table on Saturday night for 4 friends, before going to the cinema. We asked for a wine list on arrival. The waitress said they didn’t have a wine list but they had whatever we wanted. We decided on a bottle of Prosecco and had a look on the website menu and saw it was priced at £24 a bottle. The bottle arrived, it was a Prosecco called Sorso- not what was on the menu, but we didn’t mind. Ordered a second bottle with our meal. Food was fine.

When the bill arrived, there was only one bottle of Prosecco on the bill, called Bottega Gold- priced at £35. We queried this because this was more expensive that what we expected, plus there was only one bottle on the bill and we should have been charged for 2.

The waitress said that it was a mistake and we should have been charged for 2 bottles of Bottega Gold, totalling £70. We explained that this wasn’t the Prosecco we’d been served. It was called Sorso that wasn’t on the menu, but certainly wasn’t a premium bottle.

I asked to please let us just pay for what we had, we weren’t trying to get anything for free- we just wanted to pay our bill.

The waitress called over who I assume is the owner ‘Rod’, and said we were refusing to pay our bill. I explained the situation and reiterated we wanted to pay for what we had, not the premium bottles of Prosecco on the bill that we didn’t have.

Rod was trying to intimidate us, got up in my face saying “you need to pay, you’re not having it for free”. I stuck to my guns and refused to pay for something we had not had. I reiterated that if we had been served Bottega Gold, we’d have paid for it, but we had not been given this.

Rod said “do you want a bottle of Prosecco for free then”, to which I replied, “yes fine as we are clearly getting nowhere here”!

Rod went and sat back down and I went back up to the bar to try and pay. The waitress confirmed the price of the bill with Rod, who was sat across the other end of the bar… he shouted back “CHARGE HER WHATEVER, SHE’S OBVIOUSLY SKINT”.

We were all so shocked and taken a back, we quickly paid the bill and left, but we’re so insulted by the way we were treated it put a downer on the rest of our evening.

After a quick search online, we found that this bottle of Sorso Prosecco they served us, was not on their menu, but on offer in Morrisons for £6.50 a bottle!!

Beyond terrible customer service… avoid at all costs- and if you do choose to visit The Harewood, confirm all prices beforehand and double...

Was searching for a cup of tea about 17:30-ish on Monday evening in the Civic Quarter (?) in Doncaster and there was nowhere open, then I spotted flames and some people sat around them. When I got closer I saw there were some sofas, and these tables with fire in the middle and glass around the fire pit for protection. It looked great then a waiter came out with a tray of cocktails. I asked if they would serve just tea and he told me yes and to go in.

On entering it was very stylish with little tables to 2 and 4 and what looked like stairs to another floor. The waitress asked if she could help. I said I just wanted a cup of tea and would that be ok. She gave me a really friendly smile and said I could sit where I wanted. When she returned she had a little tray with a pot of tea, cup and saucer and a little jug of milk plus a biscuit and varying sugars. I commented I didn't know it was there, and she said a lot of people don't. I felt a bit awkward in a restaurant only having a cup of tea (I was just filling in time while I waited for my granddaughter to finish her training) but I felt I was treated just as importantly as a group having a meal or cocktails before going onto the Savoy or Cast.

My pot/cup of tea cost £2.20 which by today's standards is very reasonable especially in such pleasant surroundings. I am definitely going to return and have a much fuller menu.

PS They have cloth serviettes not paper. Noticing this is becoming OCD with me. I feel like the owner is putting in the effort........ It's the little things!!

Oh and I only gave 4 ⭐ because I haven't tried the food. No...

Diabolical service. A member of the party had to ask where their drink was, it had been forgotten, she did get the drink eventually, gratis. On to the food, waitress told us what they didn't have in stock from the menu, so we ordered around that. After ordering was then told that an ingredient of the salad wasn't in, but since that was the only vegan option remaining I was obliged to order anyway. Food started arriving then a few of our party that ordered pizzas were told there was no pizza dough (they were awaiting delivery of dough), they reordered. When their food arrived a meal was missing, the poor bloke with no food was told there were no RibEye steaks left, he'd ordered fillet. He left with a doggy bag of fillet steak, admittedly it was free. Those who had burgers said they were dry and not worth the price.

The management did knock money off the bill where they felt appropriate, but we just wanted a nice lunchtime meal to see off a colleague on their last day, not a fiasco of a lunchtime meal.

Simply put, if you value your sanity just don't bother going. Majority of the menu was not available and what was, was not up to the standard expected at the price paid, except the paella...

Started off great, the starters were really tasty and full of flavour. The oysters were really tasty and the cheese dish starter (I forget what they were called) were also full of flavour but unfortunately that’s where the good experience ended. Issues we had were: - Upstairs seating was absolutely full of flies, they were constantly buzzing around us, we even had a few land in our food which is gross 🤢. Invest in some fly traps! - The paella was really really salty, all we could taste was salt and bland rice. A massive shame as we were really looking forward to this - A jug of water for our table was requested at the start of the meal and a further 3 times and we didn’t get it until right at the end (luckily as our food was so salty we needed it) - Calculated our bill wrong, we asked for pints of coke and received halves but they charged us for full size? - Atmosphere was dead on a Sunday night. It was just us for the whole floor. A real shame and a massive letdown. Disappointing birthday meal.

Popped in for Sunday dinner 🍽️ and was really impressed with the food (Lamb / Beef) and the veggies that filled my plate! I couldn't finish it (that's not usual for me). The price was absolutely fantastic at 2 for £20 - £10 for a full plate of Sunday dinner and a decent amount of meat is worth the extra star 🌟 to give this place 5. The staff were friendly and the service was good. Kids had spaghetti 🍝 fish fingers and chips and they all are the lot. The flat white was a 4/5 ☕ tasted like a decent roasted bean ❤️ Thanks for having us and for filling us all for less than £50, which is difficult for 5, kids who like J20 lol 🤣 All in all a great little find, we'll definitely pop in again. Access to toilets 🚻 is good for all abilities and they have a baby change in the downstairs toilet. Nice and clean to 🌟 Parking 🅿️ available either at the library (2 minute walk) free on Sundays or the nearby car park. If you found this review helpful please give it a like ✅👍🤩

The food here is gorgeous ! My sister, friend and I booked a table here on 04th February 2023 for 6:00pm prior to visiting the Cast theatre for the Queenz show. We ordered the Tempura prawns for starter followed by two lots of the salmon, the butter chicken burger and garlic bread (plain and with cheese) as a side. Each dish was very tasty and we ate everything. The service was a bit on the slow side but I am assuming this is because it was a very busy time due to the theatre show. The staff did apologise for our wait and were very friendly. We would definitely be coming here again :-)
