The Stag — Restaurant in Dover

Update: "Quite some time after your visit!" I review places I visit when Google reminds me about them. In this case, a week ago. Not bad considering that both Christmas and New Year celebrations occurred between my visit and my review, not to mention my flight from the UK back to the USA and returning to work. Sorry I wasn't more prompt. Like I said, if you like sports bars, give The Stag a try.

Original: This is more like a sports bar than other bars in Deal. The World Cup was on the TVs when I visited. It was loud (mostly from one particular guy), and one guy was sitting on his own at a table for 3, while the three of us stood waiting for a table. To make things worse, that one guy left his drink and his coat at the table while he went off and joined another table! Not the bar's fault, but with so few seats available, they might have policed it a bit better. The bar has a pool table and a dartboard, both of which limit the amount of seating available. I've visited the stag on many occasions through the years, but hadn't been in for quite some time before this visit and I was pleasantly surprised by the improvements. Location is very good, lots of space and screens to watch sport etc.. Staff were keen to serve and helpful. I ordered a Cider and large Merlot which were very good indeed.
