Me and my partner have visited every "your leisure" swimming pool now and i must say i am dissapointed, tides is the closest being only a mile or so away from where we live but not the first we would pick if we wanted to go swimming again.
Finding a day when its quiet and not full of screaming kids is difficult so you usualy end up with a pool full of screaming kids getting in your way and being a general pain.
The lifeguards are way too relaxed, many a time ive seen them chatting away to eachother or biting their nails, im not a super strong swimmer but one time when i was in the deep end something went wrong and i started to sink, luckily i managed to grab the rail on the outside and pull myself back out.. not one lifeguard even battered an eyelid.
We often have a good indicator of when to get out before our eyes start to stink by the fact that everytime someone comes round to test the water within 10 minutes its full of chlorine and becomes almost unbareable.
We had an indicent where we tried to get a student concession but got refused on the grounds my partners proof is 6 months old, even though we had been accepted at ramsgate pool the night before with the same letter, after loads of arguing we where finaly allowed to go into the pool with concession prices, knowing we only had 2 hours before it shut we made the most of it, untill 45 minutes in a load of schoolkids came into the pool with their teachers ruining the day.
From now on we shall be going to ramsgate as they have adult only swims which is a hell of...
Read moreThis review is for the company that runs tides and Dover pool. You need to train you under 18 staff members what customer service is. We in the past few days have tried to use both venues but the lack of service from these kids is terrible. Let alone not informing us tides slides were all closed and we waited 30mins due to swimming lessons and then going back to pay was then told. We left to go to Ashford as there slides work and staff speak with confidence and great customer focus unlike your staff.
This is why I mentioned to dover District Council for the new pool in Whitfield that Ashford is a better place for familes rather than Dover or Deal.
So yet again I have been proven right which is a shame as I would have liked Dover to have been family oriented as well as a main pool but DDC think they asked the whole community obviously not my family.
Everytime my family have tried to use tides there has always been issues. Like today no slides (same as last time we came but left like today). Shame DDC didn't copy Larkfield as they may have got more families using it as my family choose not to waste our time and money on a company and council that don't seem to care...
Read moreIts ok, a little small, a little dated, but as it certainly serves its purpose as a family leisure centre. Highlights of the indoor swimming pool include a water slide, a wave machine, and a couple of Jacuzzi style pools. It is not a practical pool for swimming as such, more for have fun and best of all let the kids roam as they please, its almost like a swimming pool you'd find in a holiday complex in Spain, except its in Deal and indoors. Plenty of lifeguards oversea the swimming areas. Changing rooms are spacious and clean and the all of the showers worked and had a constant flow of hot water. Pretty much my only complaint is that I did find the chlorine to be rather strong. The Wave cafe serves snacks and drinks, fairly priced, a large lemonade, a cappuccino and portion of cheesy chips was just over a fiver, all delicious. The food court overlooks the swimming area, once upon a time the swimmers could come up for refreshments but this is no longer allowed. They also have tennis facilities and a gym on site but I cannot comment on these as we did...
