Was very tempted to walk away because the disinterest from the till operator, whilst taking our order, it all seemed ‘ a bit of an effort’ to take a coffee order and to ask the kitchen if they were still preparing ‘toasties’, he didn’t engage with us as customers but passed comment to his employee - depends if she’s still cooking - we believe he owns the establishment - middle aged male. Lovely coffee, good food. Although it wasn’t busy, one small party leaving and two pairs of diners seated the tables were in need of a wipe. Cushions were dirty, mirrors had splash marks and smudges and remnants of a dirty serviette or tissue on the bench seating. Attention to basic cleanliness needed and better customer service. They do amazing milkshakes and a gorgeous white hot chocolate.The staff are friendly and happy.My main issue is they have changed the layout of the place to many times.However,I just like consistency and I feel everytime I go there the layout has changed.I'm sure this must put some other people off as well.I was also there when they let a dog behind the counter to stroke them.I don't mind dogs but when your dealing with food and people have allergies, we all know how dog hair can get everywhere even if you wash...

I popped into this cafe on a very rare visit to Deal the first time in about 20 years! Nice enough staff and nice enough premises however it was like being in a cafe in London. It's always a personal choice but I prefer greasy spoon cafe these days! This cafe if you like sitting in a cafe in London this would be the place for you but not for me!
