The Bohemian — Restaurant in Dover

We arrived and asked barman if they did cocktails. They have an extensive selection of spirits so it seemed a logical question. The bar manager’s response was to tell us to go elsewhere if we wanted that. We were polite so it was like he already had a chip on his shoulder. The other barman was nice and helped us get a nice drink we were all happy with. I am not sure why this bar manager was so rude but it became the pattern of the night when we went for another drink or people we knew and even met said the same. Being local we knew some other groups who all had the same disrespectful treatment. It was if he was on a strange power trip. One of the worst things that happened that night, we watched a group of people come into the pub about 15/20 minutes before closing and they spent the whole time trying to get served while he was washing glasses. He saw them but as the clock went past closing he approached them finally and said sorry serving time is over. They were rightly upset and it summed up the whole experience. The Boho used to be worth visiting but I don’t think many of us will bother going back. I’ll save the explicit language from this review, put simply - rude, obnoxious and unfortunately ruining what was a nice place to frequent. Seriously, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, akin to a comedy sketch! Firstly, we were the only table there, which should have been a clue, but also negates any excuse based on them being busy. The service was atrocious, with the server clearly having never worked before, not only there, but anywhere. The basic skills of writing an order and passing it on to the kitchen were totally absent. Mains came with starters, identical dishes came in different sizes, chips were under done on the inside but burnt on the outside etc. No vegetarian options at all, and bread and butter offered as a starter - what are we, at school? Was disgusted by the racism presented by the staff last night. I was out with my half-Thai friend and we were there having a few drinks until closing time. The staff were very passive aggressive with my friend and as we left at the end of the night, we heard the bar staff and waiting staff talk about my friend going home to "eat chicken noodles like they all do".
