Sundowners — Restaurant in East Devon

My husband, my 3 year old daughter and I had breakfast here this morning and I'm so glad I trusted the reviews as its the best meal we've had on our holiday so far! We all know vegan options can still be hard to find, especially anything more than a lip service nod by the usual chains. But this little cafe is excellent for plant-based cooked breakfasts! There were so many little considerate points of service that contributed to a great experience. I could write a huge essay but here are my main reasons for loving this cafe: Plant based cooked breakfast with excellent sources of protein and the best Sausages IMHO, Richmonds! great service - server overheard my daughter ask for beans and toast and we didn't even have to ask, she came over and offered service and was happy to cater to little ones requests tap water available for self-service, it's just so convenient allowed my daughter to bring in an ice cream from another supplier, very kind baby changing facilities and potty/toddler seat in the loo, so thoughtful very chilled atmosphere and good music tea in a proper china cup! We’ve visited a few times this year and we absolutely love this little cafe. Every time we visit the staff are so friendly, helpful and polite. But the best thing, is the food…. It’s usuallly quite tricky to find decent vegan options around when eating out, but to have a whole cafe with plant based menu is incredible.

Absolutely love the plant based cooked breakfast, the scrambled tofu, along with the avocado and mushrooms are so tasty.

Had a quick chat with the owner on our visit today and she’s lovely and so friendly :)

Can’t recommend this place enough, and already looking forward to our next visit.

Oh, if you save room after breakfast their vegan cakes and desserts...

Vegetarian cafe with loads of vegan options. Their vegan cakes are fantastic and they have a great deal on the breakfast toastie with hot drink for just under £7. They have a full bar and the live music Friday evening sessions are very popular. Order and pay at the till and the lovely staff will bring your food to your table. Alternatively there is a serving hatch if you're buying takeaway. All the food I've ever had has been delicious, but I've removed one star because the menu offerings are now more limited than they used to be and I have to remember that it is a vegetarian cafe so I need to request food and drinks to be made vegan. Would really love them to add...
