The Bagel Shop - Sidmouth — Restaurant in East Devon

Stunning little independent side-street cafe with a great vibe and excellent friendly service, serving the most delicious street food in Sidmouth!

A modern clean cafe with a stylish interior, offering plenty of relaxed seating with an extremely warm atmosphere and a cosy feel - a great space for anyone to enjoy. And, it is dog friendly here too, wicked 🐾

A simple menu and reasonable prices with dine-in or takeaway options. Friendly and efficient service with a smile. Great flavours.

Whilst there is a generous selection of meat bagels on offer (naturally), that did sound tasty, the vegan and vegetarian options were slightly more limited. This said however, we had the smashed avocado and halloumi bagels and they were banging 👌 Then we topped it off with a couple of amazingly delicious warm cinnamon buns. The bagels here are gluten free as well, which is great to see.

Being huge tea connoisseurs, well me (Ash) really, the tea here was not the best and didn’t hit that ‘awe’ spot that a good English Breakfast or Assam can hit. The tea tasted like a flat Tetley’s (horrible - sorry Tetley lovers out there). However, this is just a very minor set back.

Our positive feedback would be only very minor things, as everything else is top drawer here. More vegan and vegetarian options, and a better selection of finer tea 😉

Overall, The Bagel Shop is still worth every bit 5-stars and we would highly recommend this cafe to anyone who is visiting Sidmouth.

Came in with my mum today for a bagel and coffee. We were a bit indecisive and took a minute choosing what we wanted/whether to sit in or takeaway. ALL we were met with from the server (didn’t catch his name) was attitude. He proceeded to explain that he needed to do one bagel at a time on the till for amendments instead of being friendly, or actually helping us to choose what to have and explain politely. Totally put us off and very nearly walked out. Customer service?? I don’t think so, clearly didn’t know how to interact with people. Coffee was almost undrinkable due to the amount of syrup put in, no plates, only takeaway containers for eating in?? Weird. 5 years in hospitality and I’ve never seen that. The only reason this is 2 stars if because the food was good, otherwise would have given 1. Oh, and pretty overpriced for what it is, we also took 2 items out of a bagel on the menu and it wasn’t any cheaper, I thought that was kind of odd. SUCH a shame, I had such a positive experience here last time I was in Sidmouth. Probs...

Fabulous lunch, the bagels were amazing and the coffee was fab. It was half term and incredibly busy, we waited for a table and were happy to wait for what was exceptional food. The owners son I didn't get his name demonstrated patience beyond what I thought would be possible with what were the customers from hell on the table next to me. It shows how hard it can be in hospitality and want to thank all the team for a greet lunch and reminding me why working in hospitality and be so hard but also amusing 😄 Ben I enjoyed your sassy one liners after...
