I recently dined at a charming restaurant situated on the seafront in Sidmouth. The ambience was delightful, with a picturesque view of the sea that added to the overall experience. The menu boasted a variety of dishes, and while the food was of a high standard, I found the portions to be disappointingly small. For those with hearty appetites, this restaurant might leave you searching for a more substantial meal elsewhere.
I opted for the chicken dish, which, while delicious, was served with only two pieces of broccoli and two incredibly thin and small carrots. The lack of substantial sides left the meal feeling incomplete, and I couldn't help but crave a more satisfying dining experience. Given the portion size, I left the restaurant still hungry and ended up seeking out a nearby chippy to fill the gap.
While the food was reasonably priced, the value for money was lacking due to the insufficient portion sizes. A meal like this one truly needed a side of vegetables or something more substantial to make it a fulfilling dining experience. Without addressing this issue, it's likely that customers, especially those who appreciate hearty portions, may not choose to return.
In summary, the restaurant's picturesque location and high-quality food are marred by the small portions and lack of substantial sides. For those looking for a more satisfying meal, especially in terms of portion size and value for money, this place might not be the...
Read moreI would so loved to have given this hotel 4 stars. It is suitably placed right on the sea front at Sidmouth, parking non existent, but other reviewers have already covered this, the bed very comfortable, a powerful shower and a hearty well cooked breakfast, what's not to like? However, having been offered an evening meal in their restaraunt, and after reading on their website that they had "a good reputation amongst locals and visitors for good food which is locally sourced, much of which is from the family farm." We chose to dine in on our second night. Unfortunately I'm afraid this is where our experience of the hotel was dashed. The food that was served to us last night was extremely disappointing, as many elements of our meal looked and I'm afraid tasted as if they had been either tinned or pre-prepared, certainly not fresh or locally sourced as suggested. I would recommend that someone from the Pyne's family actually eat at the restaraunt and experience this first hand to see what me mean. I understand that it was our choice to eat here, but given their glowing review we just actually believed...
