The Eight Bells (formerly the Sawyers Arms) is a lovely old fashioned, quiet pub in Church Street,Alton opposite St Lawrence's Church. It us open 12-2pm and 5-11pm. You go straight in from the street with no parking. But there is a public car park nearby. With the 8 Bells on your left take the next turning left into a housing estate, then turn right into the car park. It's just a short walk from the pub. There is a reasonable size outside area with picnic benches. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Dogs are welcome. Real ale and local ale are available. There are newspapers available to read while sitting near the real fire. I'm not sure if it serves food. I was there for refreshments after a funeral and we had sandwiches.
