Am not a member but non-members can get entry for events. We went for a jongleurs comedy night. The comedy night was so good. Will come again. This is a real cozy place, within its own walled , small, grounds. Building probably late 1700s. Bar staff was efficient and attentive. I'd become a member if I lived here. Parking is so limited in this area so as to be, in effect, non-existent, as is the case with all the pedestrianised, heavily parking controlled town centres, but you are only a 4 minute walk from a paid parking lot, and more or less the same from some outlying residential streets where resident permits do not apply after 6pm, weekdays.

Originally built in the 15th century. It was extended in the 17th century and re-fronted in the 18th century. It was occupied by Sir Henry Chauncey (1632-1719), Recorder of Hertford and notable historian. He is said to haunt the first floor. Creaking floorboards and footsteps have been attributed to 'old Henry'. Lombard House is now home to the Hertford Club, a private members club.

Members only with discounted prices for members. Lovely riverside area. Large outside area where festivals and music are on. Friendly staff and regulars. Pretty gardens and building. The food is only on once a month and we’ve had better roasts and would recommended eating elsewhere.

Had a lovely music event, buzzing with folks. However, come 7pm it was getting cold, after purchasing numerous drinks. I was cold and waited at the bar for some time. I asked for a coffee (machine and pods at the bar ready ). Then told no I can't have a coffee. (Not no sorry we are not serving, just NO) consequently I was told I could have whiskey or brandy! However, I wouldn't mix my drinks. So now, I'll just have to leave as its so cold. Had I been served a coffee I could have stayed longer along with my group of people, who also left. Seems to me they do not cater for drivers either. Great pity after having an event laid on. Management need to address this. ...

I've given a thre star review to be neutral as the club looks nice, but unfortunately I was not allowed in, despite it saying ACC affiliated on the sign. My wife and I were visiting Hertford and this looks like an oasis on a summers afternoon, however I requested entry under ACC but the bar stewardess said it was not affiliated. There ensued an internal discussion between the steward and someone in the room but to save any embarrassment for all, I said I would leave. It would be nice to have a definite decision in case we come...
