The two stars are for the fact that we were able to come in and eat, having previously been told by two other places advertising food that they weren't doing food. Sadly it went downhill from there, drink wise there was no bitter, soda water and bafflingly, no cola!!! We ordered food and it came out on a big trolley, where we were asked to take the plates ourselves. The plates were very hot and burnt fingers were the result. One of the meals were fine (Scampi, jacket, salad & peas), we ordered two steaks both medium rare, one came out well done, the other blue to rare. Neither steak was seasoned, or appeared to have been cooked / seared on a grill and the chips were very much like you would get from the local takeaway. The time states closes at 9.00 so booking unessacary. Arrived at 8.10 to be told they stopped serving at 8.30. Great its 8.10 to still be told well im not serving you im going to turn everything off. 6 people left very disappointed. We went to an alternative restaurant and were happy to give them our money. 6 x 3 course aand wine ect.. they lost out!! Not the best first impression. One of our party felt it wAS very unprofessional greeting. Very embarrassing for our party. So no we wont go back again.. shame really ive eaten here under previous owner and it was great. They absolutely need to be clear on signage what time serving finishes not what time they close..This could of been handled...

We visit Candles restaurant every year we're in Ingoldmells normally for breakfast and it's always been fantastic, This year we've had the pleasure of meeting the new owners and I must say its now first class, the food tastes better than ever, the prices are great and the welcoming feeling and service we're second to none, We also decided to visited for lunch for the first time on our trip this year and the home made steak pie was to die for!! I would and can highly recommend Candles as a must to visit if your ever in town, well done to the new owners top notch *
