Windsor Café — Restaurant in East Lindsey

Food not bad but not great for the price, as it is quite pricey for what it is. Cheap beans, cheap sausage and cheap bacon (very salty). Quite sparse with the beans and tomato’s which is disappointing as they’re the cheapest item on the plate a few more wouldn’t hurt. Mushrooms a bit dry and undercooked and hash brown cooked well but tasted like a deep fat fryer. We were asked to queue against the cake cabinet after just joining the back of the queue, but there’s nothing on the floor or walls or a barricade letting you know where to stand. Dirty tables with plates and food stacked high, this attracted flies. Dirty windowsills (dead insects) with dust collectors (artificial flowers), skirting boards dirty and so was the carpet. Looks as if it all could do with a deep clean. Cake cabinet open from the back so not sure how clean that is either as we could see flies at the back of the counter/kitchen area. Have been coming here for a while, as they do a lovely breakfast but have had a very strange interaction with a gentleman that works in the cafe that practically kicked us out for having a laptop.

He said were not to use the cafe as an office, (we had a bit of work to do and were using our own WiFi as they had none, figured we could do it while having breakfast). It was quiet, just us and maybe one other table. If we were being disruptive and rude I'd understand but we were sat at a table drinking coffee.

We were a bit befuddled by this, he was clearly annoyed with us - we tried to tell him we werent taking the mick, we were eating and drinking in the cafe and were regulars. He quickly said "I've never seen you before!". Terse and clearly irritated over something! Went to this cafe yesterday for the first time, ordered 3 Sunday dinners. The dinners were not the best we've had but were ok but the desserts were very nice. The older Gentleman who served me was very abrupt and rude. He said the dinners came with a dessert and to choose them there and then , so I ordered 2 choc sponge & custard and a trifle. The trifle was put on my tray, we were eating outside as we have a dog and I asked if the trifle could be put back in the fridge until I was ready for it (didn't want flies on it) and he was quite rude. Said he would this time but don't expect it next time... when I asked about the cutlery, do I take it now or do they bring it, he replied your awkward arn't you.
