Lillys tavern — Restaurant in East Lindsey

Went to the Moody Cow with my Grandparents brother & children. So my grandparents decided that it would be a lovely idea to take the grandchildren & great grandchildren out as a treat. Well where do we start, friendly staff 👍 But the food OMG was awful! Our dog even turned his nose up to it & he never does that! Me & my nan ordered steak & ale pie at £7.95 each so the pastry was no way near cooked as white as death! 💀 The chips was still hard & frozen in the middle. The gravy was foul & was poured all over the chips, which mad the small ones soggy. The peas was cheap tinned ones!! My grandfather ordered a steak asked for medium rare & in return got medium - well! The onion rings 😂😂 What a joke!! Was like half an onion chopped with batter on, well they was not cooked at all!! Onion was still cold & batter only just done still raw! The same with his chips (which were cheap frozen chips). The children had pizza & chips 🙈 Oh my goodness microwave pizza (which was not cooked, one was still frozen & the other 2 was cold in the middle!!!) there chips was still frozen & hard both my 2 year olds & 11 year old brother didn't even touch their food (ended up just eating our pea's!!) my coke or Pepsi was definitely watered down! We did promise the children an ice cream if they ate all their dinner but didn't want to waste anymore money in there so went elsewhere!! We would have complained to staff but with all this to complain about it wouldn't have ended well! Let's just put it this way, it was a laughing stock how in the world they have a 5 star 🌟 rating is beyond me! The food standards was poor! Well what a mess. Used to love the place. Arrived yesterday 20th August 2022 for a family meal. Upon arrival restaurant closed no lights on that it was a bit odd for a restaurant in middle of the day with tourists coming to visit. Meals had a limited menu from jacket potato, panninis and burgers (no explanation of what was served with the meal) was very basic like "chicken burger" purchased food for everyone. Meals came out wrong. People ordered fries with a chicken burger for someone else to recieve the same meal with thicker chips so it really didnt add up. Ordered burgers without salad and sauce someone got salad and sauce. Reported to manager but was more like the chef what came out acting as the manager wearing a apron shouting at her customers about how the meals was. Waitress come to clean a member of my party said its not your fault for her bad mouth for her to gob out "THATS MY NAN" and to get mouthy back. Both waitress and "manager" do NOT consider customer service and would not recommend. It's a shame about this pub. It's got great potential, the food is freshly prepared with fresh ingredients. The price is right. In summer, it has entertainment outside. Inside is dated, but when busy, it is a VG venue. I hope they have a better season next year. Because this could be the very best of venue's around.
