We visited a couple of days ago and our experience was not good.

We were seated and waited for what felt like 20 minutes before being asked for our orders. Whilst waiting we had heard the table next to us asking for things on the menu and they were told that that did not have what was asked for and kept this in mind for when we made our own order.

We made our order and waited a further 45 minutes to be served the first dish, a ‘carbonara’ however this was not alike any other carbonara we have seen, it was filled with broccoli, chicken and had a pesto sauce instead of cheese sauce.

My child’s chicken nuggets came out next along with the onion rings for the table and they were finished by the time my mum was served her scampi, 10 minutes later.

The scampi was as so overdone that they crumbled when piercing them into the fork, we explained to the waiter and he apologised and let the kitchen know. The woman from the kitchen was very rude, she approached our table with an attitude and said, “scampi, problem?” honestly if it had been my dinner I would have asked for a refund just for the way she spoke to my mum.

My son and I had ordered steak, it’s arrived another 5 minutes after the scampi incident, it was not good and was cold while the chips and mushrooms were roasting. The Stilton sauce had asked for was not on the table, I asked for this and was told that actually despite them taking the order and me paying ahead of the meal arriving that it was not in stock and I had not been charged for it and would like a receipt to show this. I agreed however they were unable to provide one and only the order print out which showed in red that the Stilton was not in stock, not that I hadn’t been charged. I was not offered another sauce from the menu.

The person who showed me the order ticket said I could take a picture of it as proof but quite honestly at this point we were just fed up and wanted to leave and I said that our experience hasn’t been a good one, communication is everything and we should have been informed, she did apologise and said that they were too busy.

Overall, the experience was not good and I’ve had a better steak for half the price from an our local Wetherspoon, which is a shame because I’d heard good things about it from other people who had been in years previously. The lady sat next to us, who had a similar experience, said that she goes every year and it had recently...

We decided to come to this pub this afternoon for late lunch. The restaurant is a seperate business to the pub. The food was faultless and the young lady serving was nice and we had a conversation too. As for the pub as soon as we walked in we wasnt greeted with a hello. We walked in and the man behind the bar said 'youve come in through the wrong door but it doesnt matter now your in and masks should be worn before you enter the pub which you should know that unless you dont listen to the news'. Me and my husband was so shocked my husband wanted to leave and go somewhere else but i was hungry. The man then said if we are looking for food its down the bottom, just stand there and someone will come to you. We didn't realise at this point the restaurant was seperate to the pub. We ordered food and we wanted a hot drink but had to order 4 drinks, 2 for each of us as you have to spend £5 or more for it to be on card. So we spent £9 on 4 hot drinks. I had a hot chocolate but couldnt drink it all as it was very thick and more like a warm thick chocolate milkshake. If the review was based on the food it would be a 4 out of 5 but as its just the pub, the very rude not so welcoming we had its a 1 star. We definately wont...

I visit this place anytime I visit Ingoldmells. It's become somewhat of a tradition to visit, since being a kid. *If dining, ring ahead to ensure a table is available as it can get fully booked quickly, especially during high season/school holidays. The food Is always delicious, the atmosphere is pleasant and family friendly, and the staff are always happy to wait on you. Good choice of menu, catering to special diets if needed - purchase your drinks at the bar if eating in - good selection of beers, soft drinks, wines and spirits. Overall, fair pricing and good energy.

Personal thoughts: I love this place for its home-from-home feel. I compare this place to dining at home, with a "butler service". In other words, the staff are welcoming, down to earth, professional, helpful, and always happy to share in a little banter - that's what helps make The Countryman what it is - it's a place run by people just like you and I. New for 2022/2023 - also host to a new caravan and camping park to the rear. Nice and small, sweet and simple!

I visited during peak season (summer...

Excellent service, excellent choice of food. We had the sirloin steak which was the dearest on the menu at £14.95, now for that sort of price I would expect a very full plate, and we were not disappointed at all, it was well worth the money, the steak was massive, cooked to our liking perfectly and all accompanied with the usual chips, peas, salad, mushrooms and large onion rings. Someone next to us had the homemade quiche and from what I could see was well worth the money at £9.95. also as of these times, social distancing was in place, so highly recommend.

Visited this place for Sunday lunch with my partner while on holiday in June. We booked a table as previously advised to do so. Our table was situated in the cosy dining area. Roast Beef was tender, selection of vegetables and potatoes. All food was homemade, hot, delicious and substantial. They had even warmed the plates! Lovely friendly staff who gave table service and the prices were decent too. The only thing could be improved were desserts were yummy but, they were warm rather than hot. Thankyou for a lovely time and we will certainly return again :)

Great food...homecooked. Their steak pie is amazing and I have it every time I go. But I go with my Mum and partner Jim....we all love it there. Nice atmosphere, its what I'd call quiet and cosy...depending on when you go. The bar have their own brewery and 1 of their own bitters is my parners favourite, called One Off. We've been MANY times over the years and we can't complain about it at all.i
