It’s the second time that we have visited, we made our way to Saffron from home (unfortunately we live in Skegness), when approaching the restaurant we saw the sign saying that there is no alcohol which is perfect for us as we don’t drink, once inside we were greeted by our front of house/waiting staff who showed us to our table. The menu has a great selection of Indian dishes, for the second time I had the Tandoori sizzler and my wife had a curry (unsure of the name), while waiting for our food we tucked in to our poppadom which was a mistake as it was so nice we couldn’t stop, our food then came out and my Tandoori sizzler we could hear approaching us as the sizzle was super loud and that was awesome, my wife loved her curry and oh my don’t forget the rice, I had special rice and my wife had coconut rice both we amazing. Our waiter came over to ask us if everything okay, we obviously said yes as it was spot on. At the end of the evening I was a little cheeky and asked our waitress if I could have a tub of the lime pickle and she was more than happy to get me a small tub of it. The bill arrived and we were pleasantly surprised at final cost. Personally I would like to thank all of the staff for helping to make our evening a special one. See you again soon. You’re amazing thank you

Highly disappointed with this place , the price of the 4 poppadoms is a joke and the shish kebab in the over priced starter was like something u would get from asda an microwaved only worst (sorry asda) . The balti wasn't like a balti I've had before , maybe it's the brummie in me, which is why i was disappointed 🤷‍♂️. The tikka masala looked like a Tin of tomatoes but was edible. The service was ok, almost forgot my balti but was quickly sorted. The low star mark was mainly the starter and the value for money. The price I payed should of been of a higher quality an 2 out of the 4 of us had a iffy stomach the next day, I quote 1 person said "it left a stain on my soul" but can't say if it was the food or not

First time at Saffron, and I’m honestly annoyed I haven’t been sooner. This was a last minute “why not” decision that turned into a full blown food revelation. The onion bhajis were crispy perfection, the kind you promise to share but somehow “accidentally” finish yourself. Then came the chocolate curry. I ordered it because I was too curious not to, and now I’m questioning everything I thought I knew about food. Sounds mad, tastes like pure genius. Only downside was the £3.80 Pepsi, but when the rest of the meal feels like edible sorcery, you kind of forgive it. Can’t wait to go back. Next time I’m bringing people just to prove chocolate curry is a real thing.

We arrived at saffron and were greeted by a friendly waiter who showed us to our table, after a little rearrangement of the place settings, there are two of us and the table seats four. Our.order for drinks was taken and we also ordered poppadoms and chutneys, the chutneys were great and the poppadoms fresh. I asked for two mains and asked for the waiting staff to recommend them. The suggestions were chocolate massala, with chicken and lamb methi. I added a couple of naans and a pillau rice. It took 15 minutes for the food to arrive, which was perfect, enough time for me to chat with Vicki, my partner, who is as I write the most beautiful woman in the restaurant!! The food was hot, nicely presented, not to much pomp, which is good. The chocolate massala was banging! Amazing, what a combination, absolutely works and the chicken was incredibly tender and well cooked. The lamb methi was well seasoned, the lamb tender and all in an amazingly flavourful dish. Both of the naans were nicely cooked and the keema had a good amount of filling, really nice charring by the way. Even the pillau, which is sometimes a little lackluster, was seasoned perfectly. The naans were perfect for mopping up the plates. I'm so impressed, and that says a lot. It's a shame I don't live in Skegness as I definitely want to come back for more, well it's certainly an excuse for a.crafty overnight stay!! Neither dish was too spicy, in fact the spice level, could be higher. I'm asking for the recipe for the chocolate massala!! Everyone seemed well looked after and I would recommend booking if you want to come as there were a couple of walk ins who had to be turned away. Everyone appeared well looked after and I certainly heard nothing negative. Not going to give me the recipe for the chocolate massala!!! Lol. I must mention that it did take a while for our dishes to be cleared after finishing our mains, around 20 minutes. Not really a problem though. All in all I highly recommend Saffron restaurant...

We booked this restaurant as we were staying in Skegness for the night & my partner had his heart set on a curry for our evening meal . The Saffron got the best reviews on Google, so we though we would try it. However, all I can say is the food was just "OK". I had tandoori king prawn as it is my fave, however it lacked flavour, it was bland & basic. My partner had king prawn dansac, his fave & again, although it wasn't unpleasant, it wasn't anything special. We have produced these meals at home that tasted better than what was offered & we are far from great cooks & chefs. Also, this restaurant does not sell alcohol. We had got a taxi to the restaurant as we had hoped to relax, have a couple of glasses of wine & a meal during our night away. There is no mention of this on the website when we checked out the menu. I feel that the restaurant needs to say they "do not sell alcohol". My partner asked if it was OK to purchase a bottle of wine elsewhere & drink it on the premises, (a common occurrence in many restaurants who do not have a licensing permit) & he was told this was not allowed either. So we ended up paying overcharged prices (ÂŁ2.50 for a bottle of 500ml still water & a small can of red bull for ÂŁ3.90) On the upside, the nan breads were large & staff were very polite, attentive & I cannot fault them. Unfortunately, I felt having spent almost ÂŁ60 for two people, that it wasn't value for money for a mediocre meal & two soft drinks that we wouldn't have chosen for an evening out, given the choice. I felt obliged to stay as I had booked a reservation & also was unsure of our surroundings, but I would not return to this premises again unless they improve the food quality & gain a permit to allow alcohol consumption or sale. Customers who are on a break or on holiday want to chill out & enjoy their time away, with me that means a nice glass of wine...
