I had quite the adventure during my recent visit to this Starbucks location. While the service didn't go to plan, I found myself oddly entertained by the whole experience.
My coffee order somehow got lost in translation twice when communicated to the barista, and I had to make a separate request for the pastries we'd ordered. Im guessing that there was a new team member who seemed genuinely overwhelmed by the pace and perhaps hadn't quite grasped the concept of coffee shop service yet. Watching them navigate their first shifts was almost endearing in its chaos.
What really impressed me, though, was witnessing the other two staff members absolutely throwing themselves into damage control mode. They were working incredibly hard to keep things moving and fix the mix-ups, and you could see they genuinely cared about getting things right. I felt for them - by this point, any hopes of gentle mentoring had clearly gone out the window, and they looked like they were nearing their wit's end while trying to salvage the situation.
The whole visit had a comedic quality to it - frustrating in the moment but makes for a good story later. We've all been the new person learning the ropes, and everyone deserves patience while they find their feet - although its good to get the order eventually. It wasnt just us either, there was chaos everywhere with service of untoasted panninis and attempted clearing of drinks that had not been finished.
At the end of the day, it's Starbucks - you know what you're getting. One off day doesn't change my overall opinion of the brand. I'll definitely be back, confident that they'll iron out these initial training bumps.
They are real people and they have to learn...
Read moreVery disappointing. I thought the main point of the Starbucks was to be a cafe close to the railway station. If you are using the station, then when you are at the station you would expect to move between the station and Starbucks ON FOOT. True, it is close, but why to they make FOOT customers walk all the way around to the back? Why is the "selling point" a drive through service at the front? Actually, why did they want a prime public transport spot for their business and then ruin it? The picture shows the wire fence around the Starbucks and the drive through on the left. The station access is at the break in the tree line on the right. The Starbucks building is directly opposite it. But to reach the pedestrian access it is necessary to walk along the length of the wire fence, which extends behind the photo, and then around to the far side of the building, and through the path of...
Read more3 of us were stood queued while 3 different members of staff dealt with 1 drive through order. Stood there for 15 minutes, no acknowledgment, hello or sorry while 3 staff members just ignored us. We ended up walking out and taking our custom elsewhere as we were not treated badly, not even acknowledged which is even worse. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Have posted this immediately after leaving the store so if any of the staff on the till would like to reach out and apologise, it would be greatly...
