The Golden Panda — Restaurant in East Suffolk

My partner and I, once again were making our travels of the restaurants of the area. Long have we been looking for a proper Chinese restaurant after finding numerous takeaways. We wanted somewhere friendly, warm and cosy. The Golden Panda delivered that in spades!

On a Saturday evening, without a booking we were seated by the window and welcomed in with some delicious prawn crackers constantly being restocked on our table. Now, people would say it can't be that good if thats not full. We arrived approximately 6pm and the takeaway orders were coming in thick and fast, the door was essentially their own air-conditioning at this point!

It was a beautiful sunny evening and being by the window, we were perfectly situated to absorb Woodbridge and its quaint nature. Parking was probably the most awkward and thats a stretch to call it that, as we parked at Oak Lane and walked up, such an easy distance that my partner who had just left hospital didnt even struggle.

The food selection was impeccable! We shared a portion of ribs in BBQ sauceand Satay chicken skewers in a peanut butter sauce and honestly, that sauce was the creme de la creme of sauces and I would have it on chips, the heathen that I am! We then moved to the mains. We had our very own buffet style on our table with sweet and sour chicken, chicken balls with curry sauce, egg fried rice and beef in a black bean sauce. The beef was cooked perfectly, the sweet and sour sauce was divine and the chicken balls didnt have residual grease that had afflicted us in the past.

Unfortunately, as previously mentioned, my partner had just left hospital and wasn't recovering as quickly as he would have liked. But once again, the Golden Panda exceeded expectations! We explained the situation to them and they bagged everything up for us to take home!

I honestly cannot find or pick any fault with these guys. Their customer service was brilliant! I was incredibly surprised at the price considering how much food we had and not once did they shirk or frown when we asked for their help!

We will not hesitate in coming back here again to really enjoy some of the most delicious Chinese food I have ever tried!

A mixed first time experience - ordering over the phone was fine but picking up the order was a negative for me. I personally didn't see a sign outside with a guide of how many people could wait inside at the same time and when I went in to collect the order there were several other people waiting in a small space. Both visible staff had their masks below the nose whilst attending customers. Also now I think about it, I don't think I saw them sanitise their hands between customers either. I had to wait maybe 10 minutes inside for my order and I would have appreciated an offer to wait outside and be told when it was ready instead of waiting with other people, one of which looked like he'd been waiting quite a while and was uncomfortable. There was a really strong incense burning on the counter that was overwhelming too and was all I could taste when I left. Double door system to get in and out with no soap outside. My partner really enjoyed the food itself but I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have because the collection experience put me off. Some simple modifications could fix that...

Just back from living overseas for 4 years, and we couldn't wait to get a good Chinese takeaway. Oh boy, this wasn't it. The sweet and sour vegetables dish was dreadful- a grey, watery sauce and old-tasting vegetables. We couldn't eat it. Photo attached, next to the extra portion of sweet and sour sauce we ordered (which looked and tasted completely different to the sauce accompanying the veg). The won tun were soggy, the satay skewers had too many slimey mushrooms and a sauce that tasted claggy with cornflour.
