El Changarro — Restaurant in Eastbourne

Booked a table for 7pm for 4 people for some of our social group. Really looked forward to it as a new restaurant for some of our group to try. Food came quickly and was nice. Although only one dessert and no coffee available. We were finishing our food and planned to have more drinks at 8pm when we were told they wanted our table back. In fact, three people had come in and were standing by our table. We said that nothing had been said about a time limit when we booked. We didn’t expect a restaurant to give an hour slot on a Friday night. Our group felt uncomfortable but had to wait for a cab, so whilst a constant stream of staff kept telling us they wanted our table, we had to wait inside for the cab, as one person had mobility issues and standing outside was not an option, feeling very uncomfortable.

This was obviously a fast food van previously who don’t understand the difference between that and a restaurant. If you are going to throw people out after an hour, don’t make bookings or tell people that can only stay a short while.

You need to decide, El Changarro, are you a fast food joint or...

We had a table for six to celebrate my Daughter’s 16th Birthday and had Vegan , Vegetarian and ‘Flexitarians’ in our small group to satisfy, which turned out to be absolutely no problem….We all found that the menu offered a really good range of starters and main meal choices along with a good range of drinks . The venue is small … so booking ahead really needed …but the atmosphere is fantastic with colourful decor and lighting …. It all felt cozy and authentic. The staff are great fun, very engaging and service was excellent and quick …. An amazing feat given the very small kitchen area , which is fully on view !…. When our food came it was amazing …. Everything is obviously freshly prepared with a great attention to giving diners a really authentic Mexican experience ,which was definitely helped by the fact that one of the owners comes from Mexico so has really helped to provide the ‘authenticity’ which everyone felt. This was our first visit but will definitely not be our last …. Such a pleasure to find...

have had some tacos but it didn't make me go "wow". May have to try some different dishes.

Having found this restaurant on Google map with amazing reviews, I really want to try the food! You don't get to have authentic food in Eastbourne that often and had really high expectations based on the reviews.

However, never managed to have any food from this restaurant....

Attempt 1: On a Saturday, not sure if needed to book a table, so rang the restaurant many times, never answered.....

Attempt 2: Fancied a delivery, ordered on just eat. Status stuck on "awaiting restaurant confirmation" for ages and then order was cancelled....

Many days passed by and today, we thought let's try again...

Here comes attempt 3: Ordered on just eat, after ten minutes or so, order was cancelled again....

I really want the food!!! Tell me how???

If once I manage to actually have the food and service, I will update...
