Akbar's Restaurant — Restaurant in England

Akbar’s is my usual go too place for a curry but not anymore. Tonight I’ve got to say I’m absolutely disgusted at the quality of the food and how the manager (Moon) dealt with me.

Ordered a takeaway Okra curry (Bhindi Buna) which I specifically asked for it to be less spicer than mild and Karahi Lamb mild to medium, drove all the way home which is roughly 16 miles away (take about 20 mins on a clear run). Tried a bit of the okra first and it was hot (so was a bit gutted) then plated up my some lamb with rice and naan bread, first tried some rice and it smelt like it had been in the fridge for a few days also tasted stale. The lamb this was like extra hot and I couldn’t eat it (managed three pieces of lamb and my mouth was burning up, couldn’t even taste the flavours and just spice!). Was absolutely gutted at this point, felt like I’d thrown £33 down the drain, and I’d been looking forward to this treat all week, you can imagine my pain.

Then I called the number on the website which went through to the Bradford branch, and spoke to Zaff the manager there, he was nice and told me to call the Middlesbrough branch and tell them I’ve spoken to him and they’ll replace the entire order.

I called up Middlesbrough and spoke a lady first who was very friendly, she passed it too Moon (I even overheard her in the background telling him that the kitchen staff have been getting orders wrong tonight) he didn’t care about what she said or what I had to say and became very argumentative over the phone, at which point I pointed out he seems like he isn’t interested in what I’ve got to say and mentioned that I’d spoken to Zaff in Bradford at which point he kind of changed his tune. He then started to talk about my order and again took an aggressive approach and became argumentative again. He then only wanted to replace the lamb and the rice, saying he’s not replacing the Okra because apparently that would be mild anyway (which it was not).

Went back and the lady was very friendly, but Moon just gave off this persona of arrogance. He didn’t talk to me either, and vice versa.

Overall bad customer service from Moon and disgusting food tonight! I’m not going again...

Where can I start: Went with the family to Middlesbrough branch staff were nice at first then we ordered our meals

We ordered 4 mixed kebab starters 4 tikka masala 2 water 2 Pepsi and 1 larger plus family nan bread and single kemer nan bread

Starters came I am fond of an Indian but far too hot to eat/enjoy so left the majority then the main meal came tikka masala which makes the Dead Sea look like fresh water TONE of salt that is all we could taste the only thing we ate was the nan bread as that was lush but left the main course the manager then came over and asked if all was ok I told him no too much salt it would cause a heart attack honest I love salt on everything but god it was bad all we got was it the recipe and he was sorry

I then went to pay the bill came too £104 don't mind that at all if we actually ate anything other than the nan made my point to the lady on the till and the management and still had to pay full with no apology or nothing

Visited on 28/10/21 and had a terrible experience. Food was ok, but the service was slow. Waited over 30 minutes just for the starters, let alone the mains. The waiter came and took the plates away while 2 members of the party were still eating, leaning over them while they ate. Then waited again over 30 minutes for the mains which were average at best. No one came between meals to see if we needed any more beverages while waiting for the meal. Once we came to pay the bill, it was split between 2 people and the server who dealt with this was as miserable as they come. Had a calculator to split the bill and then proceeded to round it up to the nearest pound between the two stating it ‘easier’. Found this extremely unprofessional and to be frank cheeky after the poor service. This was obviously questioned and paid to the price of the bill in which she did not seem pleased about.
