My friend and I popped in here for a cocktail mid September. The barman seemed clueless on how to make drinks, so we sat at a table while he tried to find bottles etc. The atmosphere made us feel uncomfortable, we realised everyone else in the bar was friends with the owner, as at least 3 people sitting at tables just got up and went behind the bar. I’m not saying it’s wrong to have your friends at your own bar, but if you have a struggling barman then take control and don’t just ignore the obvious struggle. I went up to the till to pay as I knew they weren’t going to come over to us, the barman asked why we weren’t having another drink as we’d asked to take the menu to our table. I was honest and said it took too long for the first drink and the atmosphere wasn’t great, he then preceded to be extremely honest and tell me he was 3 hours late for work and wasn’t supposed to be on the bar etc! He then joked and asked for £50 for the 2 drinks!...

I let the lady know beforehand about his birthday and she set up a balloon display for him and also he received a cupcake with his name on the plate which he loved. Its a beautiful little place, the owner was so kind and welcoming, the afternoon tea was delicious and the fruit platter such a lovely extra. I will be brining my parents back for the tea as they would love it here. When I walked in there was no one behind the bar but the owner/manager/server was standing by the front door. No greeting or communication of any sort but she proceeded to take a personal phone call on her mobile and just sat down. Completely ignored me so I walked past her and left.
