I love this pub.
From the moment you catch a glimpse of the awning hanging elegantly over the welcoming doorway and the warm friendly incandescent glow beaming through the original bespoke windows, you know you're in a for an exemplary British pub experience of the highest order. Stepping into the main bar, your nose fills with the amaranthine, rustic essence of real working-class men drinking real working-class ales. Your ears will prick up at the gentle murmur of old sea tales and timeless anecdotes, handed down from generation to generation - your eyes will not feel left out either. Exotic worldly pieces of objet d'art, trinkets, bric-a-brac and curios tastefully adorne the walls and display cabinets whilst sitting comfortably alongside more modern pieces such as Samsung flat-screen televisions and Bose speaker systems. Now, let me make this abundantly clear; this is not a pub for self-obsessed, characterless, I-Phone waving muggy ponces! No! This pub transcends such vacuous social folly and delivers what the working man truly craves after a hard day doing manual labour: Beer, Football, Fruit Machines and the fittest (now this bit really is true) barmaid EVER. I actually love her. x

Read moreAs they are having 50% off food this September, my mother and I thought we would try it out. Have been there for a pint before and quite enjoyed it. This time however, it was extremely disappointing. I had a Las Iguanas IPA and my mum had a Guinness, both tasted very diluted and flat. Then it took 40 mins for our food to come. We ordered whitebait as a starter. The fish was slightly soft and had not been fried till the outside was crispy, and the slices of bread served with it were cold. The sea bream my mum ordered was undercooked in the center, indicating that it was a frozen fish which had not been defrosted fully before cooking. I had the 1/2 pound burger, the meat it self was very nice but the so called 'brioche' bun used was extremely thin and crumbly. Overall, we were very disappointed with The Hamlet Court, even though we love going to the Peterboat down in Old Leigh which is part of...
Read moreMy friend and I were going to a show at the Cliffs Pavilliom and decided to have a pre show drink on the pub. We were very pleasantly surprised at how lovely it was inside. The pub was busy, lots of people of all ages and had a really lovely atmosphere. There was a young girl singing which I thi k added to the pub feeling lively and friendly. We were offered a plate of aperitifs free of charge which we really enjoyed and my friend and I thought that was such a nice touch for a pub to be doing something like that especially these days when everyone wants to charge for anything and everything! People were eating in the pub and the food looked nice. We would definitely go back when visiting the Cliffs...
