Amersham Fish Bar — Restaurant in England

I have been going here for years and although the food is decent most times I have noticed a few issues.

All too often if you alone or with one other customer the staff speak to each other in a different language which is not what i would consider good customer etiquette.

The chips are getting worse. Everyone they seem to get drier despite lashings of vinegar being unable to compensate? !

Is £9.50 normal now for a large cod ? ...would not mind but no depth in one of my two large cods ordered and far too thin for that money !. ...also if I am spending that amount on food there is no need to charge £ 1.20.for a tin of drink !

Pickled onions are always tiny in size and beware of driving into the car park to the side and rear of the property.

Once you drive in your charged unless you buy a ticket at the machine...even if just turning around! .. you will.not.know until the parking eye fine arrives...

The cod and chips is fabulous. Succulent, tasty and fresh white cod that falls apart in moist flakes, covered in a light but crispy batter, and firm light golden chips with a decent crunch and minimal oil. The food is cooked to order so be ready to wait ten minutes, or more if it's busy. There's room to eat in at a bar, and it beats being outside on a wintery evening, but it's a fish bar, not a fish restaurant so don't expect polished cutlery. The staff are...

We had heard good things about this chippy, and decided to take a drive to try it out.
