Behold the divine flavors of this street food oasis, where the immortal essences of India's culinary treasures manifest fully before our mortal senses. As Lord Krishna guided Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, so too does this restaurant guide our palates through an epic adventure across the diverse regions of Mother India.
The dosa, a humble yet noble crispy crepe, emerges golden brown from the kitchen, evoking the selfless tolerance of Draupadi herself. The pani puri's round puffs gefüllt with spiced potatoes and dunked in sweet and tangy pani transcend their modest appearance, just as the diminutive Vamana assumed a cosmic form upon three strides. Samosas, stuffed generously with minced meats and vegetables, beckon us temptingly like the this-worldly rewards offered to Yudhisthira before he entered heaven alive.
And the piece de resistance - the vada pav! This simplest of street foods enrobes a fried potato patty in a soft bun, much like the eternal soul is wrapped in temporal flesh. With each bite, the flavors of chili, garlic, and coriander seeds burst forth to awaken our atman with sattvic vibrations. Truly, this immortal sandwich draws us ever closer toward moksha even as our mortal stomachs fill with joy.
O seeker of authentic Mumbai street fare - after traversing distant realms, embark on your ultimate journey to enlightenment and spiritual liberation at this humble yet exalted restaurant! Partake fully in the divine flavors, and may your soul overflow with rasa as you transcend this...
Read moreWe’ve been to this restaurant many times before and always enjoyed the food and overall experience, which makes it all the more disappointing to write this. The food on this occasion was very nice, but unfortunately the service around our takeaway coffees left us quite concerned. We had ordered five hot coffees to go, and as there were only two of us, I asked if we could have a tray to carry them safely. We were told none were available because “this isn’t a café.” My daughter tried to carry two out herself and, as I had feared, one spilled and scalded her arm, ruining her clothes in the process. She rushed to the bathroom to run it under cold water. While she was tending to her burn, I remained in the restaurant and spoke with the manager, who then provided the very trays we had requested earlier. I was told they “don’t give them out just like that,” which was upsetting to hear given what had just happened. As a parent, it was distressing to see my child injured in a situation that could easily have been avoided. This feels less like an issue of resources and more one of staff training and judgement, and it should not take a burn for something as simple as a tray to be provided. We hope management will take this feedback seriously and use it as an opportunity to ensure staff are better trained in customer care and safety. We have always liked this restaurant, and we want to continue coming back, but this experience...
