The service here is quick and friendly, even when they are busy.. we didn’t have the food… Firstly I must disclose that I am a 30 year CAMRA member and also an experienced craft Brewer We desperately wanted to like this place. I was really hoping that the beer was going to be a pleasant surprise, places like this should be encouraged where possible. Sadly, my Colleague and I could find little redeeming in any of the beers we tried .. At the bar the young man was helpful, but couldn’t tell us any of the base malts used or any of the hops, referring us to a few cans in the fridge behind for the hop names, not many shown.. Without exception, all 14 of the beers we tried were pretty tasteless and watery, often with a slightly muddy colour and off flavour. We even resorted to trying a couple of cans to see if there was a problem with the pipes or the storage, the cans were pretty much the same… I don’t know if it is the yeast strain that’s being used or a lack of quantity or quality ingredients, fermentables and hops, but none of the beers seemed to have a distinctive or interesting flavour. My colleague and I shared half a pint of each beer and in the end, quite a few were on the table unfinished.. very frustrating all round as we had been looking forward to an interesting evening I know exactly what Craft beer is, and this is...

We've had a brilliant time at the Mad squirrel for my birthday. Stella and James were absolutely brilliant, ensuring we had our own private space in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. They accommodated our needs and children, allowing us to really make ourselves at home! We enjoyed a variety of delicious pizzas and well priced beers, service was speedy and the staff were incredibly friendly and allowed us to chill - we'd bought cake and games and had a few young children, none of whom posed a problem. Despite the Rugby being on ( we aren't fans) we were able to enjoy a birthday lunch without feeling like we were at a sporting event. The manage to successfully cater for everyone. Keep it up guys! Went here because it's my twin sisters local. Everyone knows everyone it seems, so it's a nice relaxed atmosphere with a genuinely warm welcome. Also the amount of beer they have on sale here is epic! And they always seem to get new ones in. If you like beers and ales, then you need to get your arse down here, because it's like a beer nirvana. They even have that heavenly choir sound when you walk through the door.... Or was that just in my mind? They have pizza too, with a proper pizza oven. Pricewise, it can vary. They have some gourmet beverage choices in here let me tell you. And you can get thirds! So you can have yourself a little beer/ale platter! You're thinking about doing that now aren't...
