Violently sick! I had my first Mommy Thai via a Deliveroo on Friday evening and it did not go well. I ordered the Tom Yum Soup with Mushrooms and the Tofu Thai along with some other dishes with a friend. Iāve had the soup many times before from other restaurants, but as I was halfway through this one, I noticed something floating in it that shouldnāt have been there. As first I thought it was the tough end of a piece of pork. I called the restaurant and the person who answered the phone was immediately dismissive and told me that I should have checked the ingredients. I tried to tell him that whatever it is in the soup shouldnāt have been in and that on Deliveroo it doesnāt give you an itemised breakdown of all the ingredients. He just kept saying the same thing and was oddly aggressive about it so I hung up the call. My friend cut the piece in half to get a better look and we think it was some type of raw root vegetable that made it in there accidentally, which was less concerning as Iām a vegetarian, but wasnāt entirely sure. My friendās bf took a look too and he couldnāt identify it. About 10 mins later, as I just started to eat the Pad Thai, I started to burn up and feel sick and dizzy. I was then violently sick at the bottom of my friendās garden and it all came back up (I have no allergies, I was not drinking and Iām not pregnant). I immediately felt better. I can only relate this to whatever it was in the soup. First and last time Iāll eat there. I was really polite to the staff when I called up. Really disappointing that they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreChecked their takeaway menu as what their website shows. Noted down all the dishes we want and called to order a pick-up. Tried calling for 30 minutes from 2 mobiles and 1 landline and can never get through. So we drove there instead, and was told their phone breaks down (donāt know what impact it has on a business). Started placing the order - now was told the York menu online is NOT accurate. It is indeed the Leeds menu and York has a different menu. They blamed the company who made their website - but guess if itās a known issue for a while, Mommy Thai can request it to be fixed? Fair enough, no starter platter right, letās skip the starter. Tom Yum Soup shows Ā£4 on the menu but Ā£5.45 at York. Not impressed but ok go ahead with the order. 3rd dish on my list is NOT available in their branch (again, in Leeds only). Hmā¦. After discussion with my family we decided to go somewhere else. Lucky we got a few options marked down on Google Maps (we are not local residents, just visiting the city), so got a backup in hand at that moment. We went to The Old Siam and indeed they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am a regular at Mommy Thai and the service was just unacceptable the last time I went honestly made me never want to go back again. We made requests as nice as we could and he just replied in such a rude manner. A good way to basically tell us to never come back which is such a shame because they do have good food but portions are getting smaller, no drinks provided with the lunch meals and getting more expensive. The fact this his how they treat their regulars is so heartbreaking. It should be a given that if our english isnāt the best you explain what there is on the new menu. My mother cannot read the menu and did an honest mistake accidentally not ordering the starter to go with the lunch meal (youād go in for the lunch deal) and the server (ginger guy) not only not allow us to add the starter back on but also charged us full price as if it were an evening meal when the portions would be exactly the same?? Honestly so disappointed as there was so much empty space where the starter...
