I had vague fond memories of Beachcomber, nostalgia soaked memories of fillet steaks past. The pilgrimage from north to south pier was arduous into a head wind as I ran the gauntlet of hover boards and fidget spinners. I found myself at the final hurdle ascending the stairs of Beachcomber to its delicious meaty summit, alas this is where things went sour. Service was fine no qualms there. Front of house were far from the issue. The mixed starter was fresh from Iceland. A five minute flash in the deep fryer and the job was done but to be honest it was alright, the kind of snap you'd have for a lazy tea at home but let's talk steak. I don't like rare steak simple as that, I know some people do, but there's something about blood that doesn't do it for me so I ordered my steak medium. I couldn't live with myself I ever drew for the still mooing line so let's say it still had grass in its mouth or something like that. I alerted our member of waiting staff to the state of my rump and she eagerly whisked it away to return with what we both hoped may be an adequate replacement. 5-10 minutes passed while our lass happily scoffed her gammon. Finally it arrived the ultimate crescendo of anticipation a brand new steamy bad boy sizzling before my very eyes. I inspect this hunk of beast tentatively and delicately deliver my maiden incision. A Niagara falls esque tsunami of crimson erupts from this attempt leaving my scampi and chips doing the backstroke in an abatoirs overflow. I channeled my inner Ramsay and asked the waitress to come and observe my newest pressure washer of gore. She empathised, I left, I am...
Read moreBooked here for a family dinner a couple of weeks ago during a short getaway. Always found eating in Blackpool a minefield so checked reviews for here, got to say I've found my go to place for great food and lovely service. When we arrived it was quiet but soon was full, distanced tables and all staff adhering to social distance practices yet still attentative and friendly. The menu was a nice mix of burgers, steaks and other choices and had something for everyone. We chose a combo starter to share with the kids and a mushrooms in Stilton bake, Ribs for the big kids, all nicely presented and just enough for an appetiser, for mains my wife and I had mixed grills, the kids ate from the kids menu which was only £1 if adults ordered from the grill. Again, all meals came quickly and we're cooked perfectly, especially the steaks. Drinks were reasonably priced and we were always asked if we needed more. Bill for 5, 3 adults, 2 kids with starters and 2 rounds of drinks was around £75 which I was more than happy with. Hope this place is still here when we eventually go back to Blackpool, its tough on restaurants at the moment with occupancy etc, if your in Blackpool and hungry, give it a try it's really good,it's next to the weather spoons, directly opposite South pier and the sandcastle and is a 1st floor restaurant accesessed via staircase from the street so keep your...
Read moreWe were recommended this place by our lovely hotel staff. Located next door to the Wetherspoons, it is a little hidden from view behind a food stand and the entrance is closed up in the day. I came here with my three kids and my friend and her two kids. The food was incredibly nice, there was plenty of it and it came out warm and well presented. My friends son wanted curry which wasn't on the kids menu, so they accommodated by making him a smaller portion. They also went above and beyond by making it less spicy for him by adding cream. Dessert was just as tasty as the main. My daughter asked for just a bowl of custard and they delivered without a problem. Couldn't recommend this place enough. Lovely food. Lovely staff and located upstairs, so you see the lights quite well (when they're on!) Though will be difficult for those in wheelchairs or those with mobility issues. Pleasantly surprised by the price as well. We have tried to go back here since our visit in August, but unfortunately they were fully booked, so I'd say booking...
