Review for the Upper Deck Bar and Grill, The Sandcastle Promenade Blackpool
Our party of 4 visited the Upper Deck Friday night and what an absolutely fabulous night we had. The restaurant (located inside Grosvenor Casino) is modern and elegant with luxurious seating and and tasteful décor. All the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and we were made to feel very welcome.
We all started with the Monkfish starter which replaced the unavailable Scallops – light and flavoursome with a winning miso yuzu glaze – an awesome starter!
Mains were Hake (heavenly with an unexpected treasure –potted shrimp crumpet), Venison (melt in the mouth with exceptional jus) and the exquisite Dukesmoor 16oz T-Bone steak. I have honestly never tasted steak like this – cooked to perfection with a depth of flavour never before experienced. The attention to detail on all the accompaniments was outstanding. The hidden gem of parmesan custard in the hispi cabbage was a taste of pure brilliance and drew gasps from the diners!
To finish, a variety of desserts were tried - all were superb: Chocolate Tart, Gingerbread Parfait and my own favourite the Cheeseboard – the miniature Eccles Cakes were a gift from God!
Drinks - There is a wide selection of reasonably priced beers, cocktails, spirits and wines on offer – I can recommend the Riesling which was perfection - joy in a glass!
We have eaten at several Michelin restaurants and can truly say that The Upper Deck is up there with them. If you are looking for a night out in a stunning restaurant with exceptional food, then look no further and get a table booked! You will not be disappointed. We will definitely be returning.
Lastly, a huge shout out to our host Jo who was very attentive and went the extra mile to make the evening one that we will remember for a long...
Read moreEdit: reply to the upper deck. As something is protected by law , it means no one else can legally call another equivalent item with the same name, so to sum up, it's not only misleading and misunderstanding the law, but officials can make you change the name, plus to have called the cheese parmesan when it can't be, as protected food names are a form of intellectual property designed to protect the authenticity and reputation of a product. And if that name is legally protected and that the ingredients arnt as in the original recipe, means it can't be named the same name neither, i could take this to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) or our local Trading Standards service.
And the menu i read was this one here on Google map, so youre completely wrong still.
Your menu doesn't show anything vegetarian apart from the grilled carrots, is there a reason why you dont do anything vegetarian these days, we're living in the 21st century and you dont do veggie food yet!??! We veggies certainly cant dine here so you miss out. I noticed a few things that on the face of them seem they may be vegetarian, but then you add parmesan cheese to them, which has and always has have animals rennet in it, so can't be classed as veggie. Of course if you mean its "hard cheese" which is veggie equivalent than you really should call it as such, because the parmesan name is...
Read moreWas eyeing this place up as a date spot a while before we booked a trip to Blackpool. Had a table for 2 on Saturday night. Lovely decor in the restaurant which overlooks the casino floor but has it's own charm. Food was absolutely stunning, easily one of the best meals we've had. The lamb and steak were both super flavoursome and everything that accompanied them on the plate was there for a reason, scrumptious food, and the triple cooked chips are out of this world! Only drawback is that it took roughly 45 mins for the mains to be served. Fortunately everyone was super attentive and Gabriel gave us a couple of some delicious cocktails on the house for our troubles. Could not fault the friendliness of everyone who served us. For the price this place is a must visit. Plus you get some free play for the casino floor so you can always win...
