Birds Bakery in Derby, Albert Street — Restaurant in England

Very appalling customer service! When arriving, we were not asked if we were eating in or not so just ordered at the bigger till next to the seating area. At the till, again, we were not asked if we were eating in and spent nearly £10 on food/drink (including hot drink). We then sat down and started eating, I went to use the toilet and I was told by a very rude member of staff that we were “NOT ALLOWED” to sit down in there because we had bought from the take out section. We then had no choice but to leave meaning we had no where to eat and drink what we had purchased. I would have happily paid extra if we needed to, but we were not even given any option to do so. I have never experienced this at any other birds bakery and it is rude and poor customer service to refuse a table to paying customers. I will be expecting some kind of apology or compensation for this, because we couldn’t enjoy our food and drink because it had gone cold, and we were rudely spoken to and kicked to the curb. Very displeased in my experience today. At the least, somebody should explain to the customers the process, and ASK if they are eating in, not just kick them out…...

Walked form the museum to the bakery hoping to get Lamb&mint slice for all the kids. Unfortunately this is the only bakery in town that NEVER has a variety of baked hot slices Inc one I was after. So been quite hungry and tired after museum, first decided we'd sit outside in a fresh air, then last minute kids changed mind and we sat inside. A member of staff came saying there is an extra charge to be paid to sit in, how much exactly she could not tell. So on the bill of just little little over £11, I was charged almost HALF for table service we never get in the end! Waiter had to put it through as something else instead. Still sat eating from the paper pouches, not even 1 napkin has been offered!!! I'm usually pretty tidy and always use wet wipes to clean after my children, just understanding how difficult the waiter's job can be at times. This time I didn't feel like it at all. Totally dissatisfied with this particular bakery. Will never try again for a lamb slice as its almost never in, the hot food selection is...

We saw that the filled rolls being served to table looked lovely so decided to try the cafe out. Firstly the tables vacated were left for ages before being cleaned and cleaned.

However, the main issue is I waited at the cafe counter waiting to order. There was no one in front of me or behind. I waited and waited while three female staff members buzzed around me. No eye contact, no acknowledgement, no engagement at all! A man came to the counter and asked for a knife and was given one… even then, no one acknowledged me. We waited and waited…. My husband even noticed from the table and in the end we literally just left the cafe. I couldn’t believe it. I’ve never experienced anything like it. This was Tuesday 7th November around 1.45pm ish.
