My wife and I have eaten here many times. One of our favourite go to places when in the lakes. How things have changed. There's £51 completely wasted. And furthermore we won't ever be going again. The picture is of a meatball pizza. It was almost cold when served and the base beyond burnt as you can see. The meatballs if that's what they were, rock hard, cold and unpleasant to the taste. My wife ate what she could and eventually gave up. I had the Tap bar smoky burger, £16. Thrown together with a couldn't care less what I'm serving attitude for both dishes. I ate the burger which supposedly had pulled pork in it, didn't spot that. I ate mine because I was starving but complained about the pizza. The manager gave me his most sincere 'I'm listening' look and then offered me drink as if that would compensate for this diabolical eating experience. I would of witheld payment of part of the bill but had paid upfront because we were dining outside. The manager clearly had no intention of offering any refund and we left vowing never to return. As an after thought perhaps if the manager was a little more attentive in actually managing the establishment these issues may not arise. However he seemed more interested in sitting in the outdoor seating smoking with the innumerable friends who had turned up. Eating out is very expensive these days and we tend to go, when we can justify the spend to places we have had good food and a good experience. You simply cannot serve up the standard of food you did to us today and honestly think that is ok. It is not. Shame on you.

We had a great meal at the Bowness tap rooms on bank holiday Monday. We went to sit outside for a drink but the smell was too irrisistable so we had to take a look at the food menu! We got a little cold outside and asked the waitress if they were dog friendly, she said yes and prepared a table for the 7 of us and our 4 dogs 😊 There was a great range of beers on tap, regrettably I didn't try one of their own beers though and I stead opted for a pint of Jute We ordered our food and it came very quickly. I had without a doubt the best burger in recent memory (the Tap Smokey I think), big portion of fries and it was loaded with amazing brisket. My sister who is veggie got the veggie hotdog and said it was the best one she has had, huge praise as she is pregnant and very fussy at the minute! The only drawback I had was that inside the music was a little too loud. Didn't stop us from enjoying our meal wlbut it was a little hard to hear a conversation on the other side of the table. I would highly recommend this place, I know we certainly will be back!

Lovely classy bar. Staff warm and friendly. We popped in for a pint at lunchtime. The first shock was the price - under a fiver a pint. (Alpall and Pravia so not cheap stuff) Incidentally, they have a fantastic range of quality beers etc. The food coming out looked really good so I opted for a couple of light bites. The pesto and sun dried tomatoes panini was delicious. Comes with skin on fries. The cheeky fries (skin on fries loaded with shredded chicken, cheese, buffalo sauce and spring onions) are just as good. A little bit of a kick, but not too much. Hit the spot perfectly. Not sure what their play list is but it oozes holiday tunes. Great bar on the main road, do pop in. Pet friendly, water bowls and treats

Been regular visitors to Ambleside tap rooms which is always fantastic. Unfortunately the experience in Bowness-on-Windermere wasn’t quite as good. We were sat on the floor you go in with our dog and baby in high chair and had to keep getting up during my meal and moving out of the way due to pipes running up above us to fill the beer kegs up. When a staff member said was everything okay I said it’s not good having to move off your table whilst eating to sort the beer refills so thought we may have been offered at the very least an apology for the inconvenience or maybe a discount off the bill knowing it was obviously going to be a poor experience. Maybe it’s just me, but it if I was working I’d have been offering our apologies for the timing of it all. The food was good quality, the staff in general were friendly just didn’t read the room very well as also the noise sitting underneath the refill was quite irritating. Great choice for gluten free options too which is always great. Probably just went in at the wrong possible time I would imagine as the Ambleside Tap Rooms has always been a top...
