I would definitely not recommend this experience to my worst enemy! The food itself was edible but the staff (one in particular) can be very rude and dismissive and basically I felt as if I was on an army base. Also if you’re Vegan and want to eat meat for the first time….then I’d go there! (That’s me being sarcastic obviously)
Me my partner and some friends decided to go to Chandni for dinner to catch up. That evening there was a deal on where you could get one starter, main, side and either rice or bread for a good price. I’m vegan so had limited choice on main so I was encouraged my the waiter to get the vegetable biriani. I agreed originally but then realised he hadn’t asked me what I wanted for my side and rice. When I asked him about it he said in a very abrupt way that because I’ve got the biriani I wouldn’t get a side or rice as it comes with vegetable sauce and rice. As me and my partner were going to share a side abs rice I said I’d changed my mind and didn’t want it. The waiter then snapped at me and said the biriani is good it will fill you up. I said it’s not just about me. I then asked my friend what she was getting. The waiter proceeded to interrupt and tried to force me to then order the vegetable balti. I hadn’t even had a chance to look at the menu again so I continued to ask my friend what she’d got and decided to go with that.
Our food arrived….me and my friend had ordered the vegetable Malaya. I had a little bite of mine and then realised there was mince beef on the top of it. My partner is a meat eater so asked her to double check. She confirmed it was meat. My friend also had meat on hers. I called a waiter over who seemed to already realise he’d given us the wrong food. Even so we had to make them aware that we’d need to plates and rice as it had been mixed.
The whole experience was actually very traumatic and I didn’t enjoy it at all. Even given the staffs mistakes we didn’t get offered a discount or anything!
I’m horrified and wouldn’t definitely not recommend this place if it was the last Indian...

We used to go Chandi quite abit. It was our date night spot. Especially when my wife was pregnant. Always polite and food was good. After we brought baby a few times, we noticed that when we would go again, they’d often say “sorry tables are full”… so not sure if it was the fact we had a baby. We didn’t go for almost a year.
Went for their lunchtime menu today at 12.20pm to give them one chance thinking maybe things have changed. Signs out, open sign on the glass and two gentleman (same group as a year ago) standing outside cleaning the sign.
Before taking our baby out, my wife told me to check they were definitely open for lunch before transferring baby to pram. The workers told me “no not open today, only takeaways”. I double confirmed and they said no… only takeout.
Maybe it’s because I’m British black - no idea why I was treated differently. My wife called up when we got back in the car as we found it odd and asked if they were open for lunch today in which the gentleman on the phone said how many are you? She said 3 and he said yes open, we shut at 2pm. She said so you’re definitely open today for sit in and he said yes we are open, come as soon as you can as we shut at 2pm.
So confirming - they judged me at the door and thought “no thanks” when they spoke to my wife over the phone confirming they were open for lunch.
Off to Nando’s we go! Won’t ever come...
Read morePoor service and felt differentiated by the staff. AVOID!
From the moment we mentioned that we are vegetarian, we were differentiated and treated with abysmal service.
server brought uncleaned plates and had to be told to bring fresh ones. felt in a rush and almost threw some of the items on the table didn't remember nor asked who ordered which breads and randomly put them on table. But did that carefully and politely on other nearby tables for other people (discrimination) Charged extra for being served vegetarian though it was recommended by the staff charged extra for items we didn't order and didn't apologise as well. Ended up paying food was not up to standard. Got sweet curries despite mentioning we don't want sweet curries naan bread was the worst I have ever had in the UK. Not fresh at all and tasted stale had to go an pay at the counter as no one cared enough to bring the card machine to us
Been in the UK for a while but haven't had such a terrible time experience and have never felt this discriminated. Very annoying and frustrating, especially when you want to show guests from overseas UK hospitality. Further, they should not call the restaurant Indian as it is very far from the Indian cuisines, taste...
