I was shocked and very disappointed by the rude owner of this cafe who refused to refill my child’s water bottle on a hot sunny day in August - after I had bought three ice creams. He cited it ‘not fitting under his tap’ as the reason. Unsurprisingly he didn’t offer us a cup of tap water either. Whilst I am aware it is only the law to provide potable water in licensed cafes I am shocked that a beach front cafe in a plastic free town will go as far as refusing a tap water refill for a child. As a local I will not be returning. A kind holiday maker who over heard the conversation came over to offer me some of his family’s water and said they would be boycotting the cafe for the rest of the week as he was so shocked by the owners response.

edited to add - thank you for your response. However we certainly did not ‘charge up to the counter asking for water’. We had been stood in the queue for 5 minutes behind several people and my children and I had even commented (very positively) on the bucket of ice cream served by the lady to the previous customer. As mentioned above, another holiday maker was in the queue ahead of us also. So we were not queue jumping at all! Citing the ‘cost’ of ‘expensive’ SW water tap water should not be a factor it would have cost a fraction of a penny for a tap water refill. The bottle was a child’s bottle covered in butterflies and my 8 and 6 year olds stood with me in the queue. In 2023 cafes should offer water refills regardless of it being for a child or not. As your response at the time your reply on here is shortsighted,...

Really enjoyed the food, although the website gave a different impression to what was actually served - in particular it looked like it served full English breakfast, when in reality it was more breakfast sandwiches (e.g. egg and sausage). Still tasty but different to what we expected. Super convenient location with a great view of the beach. Lunch menu is good - chips in a bucket was a hit with the kids. The staff were friendly and chatty. Peak holiday times it is unsurprisingly busy - be...

Called in for just simple chips & cheese frozen packet chips that where rock hard not cooked at all properly and grated packet cheese. I have had better chips from a takeaway on a night out and didn't cost half way near as much.

This place has so much potential to be something brilliant but if they can't get the simple things right then why bother at all, it is in a prime location but the food was such a dissapointment.

Homemade chips and localy produced cheese are the...
