The owner, Giuseppe was abrupt and rude towards me. He served me a latte with nearly half the drink being just froth. I asked him to please remove the froth and refill the glass with coffee. His attitude was appalling, he took the glass off me, scooped out the froth and returned my drink to my table, without filling it up. So, I had a latte that was only half full and I hadn't even drunk any at this point. Obviously, I'm not going to pay full price for only half a coffee, so I took it back and politely asked him to please fill it up, as previously stated. He more or less said, "What do you want me to do?", in a rude and disrespectful manner. I AGAIN asked him to please fill my coffee glass up. I went and sat back down and waited for him to bring my coffee back. I waited, and waited, and waited, ages before he returned it to me. Even then, he put it back on the table with no words at all! The funny thing was, after all his messing me around, the coffee tasted burnt and unpleasant! Dreadful treatment to a customer, especially from the owner! I frequent a variety of coffee shops on a regular basis, which I thoroughly enjoy, with great customer service and staff looking after their customers. But I can honestly say, I won't be returning to this one! I don't recommend going to Mamma Mia in George St, Hove, I experienced nothing but appalling treatment and burnt, tasteless coffee!...
Read moreI almost don't want to reveal how good this place is, as it's already pretty busy! My partner and I tried Mamma Mi for my birthday with quite a last minute booking but were able to be fitted in near the end of lunch service. We are SO glad we found this amazing authentic Italian with fantastic service and just THE BEST food. My partner is rather fussy about her Carbonaras but said that this was the best she'd eaten outside of Italy! (Considering the chef is actually Italian, that makes sense!) The pizza was delicious with a thin base but not so thin it fell apart (my pet hate) and the ingredients all tasted very very fresh. Normally I tend to only have 2 courses; starter and main, or main and dessert, but when the food was this yummy you've got to indulge right? As a result, I can also happily recommend the bruschetta and the tiramisu. I can't wait to go...
Read moreFound this quintessential Italian restaurant in George street whilst looking for a non chain coffee break. We received a warm greeting and chose a table outside for our coffee. We saw that they catered for gluten free dietary requirements and asked to see the menu. The server introduced himself as Giuseppe( I’m assuming the owner) and was only too happy to discuss the menu and how it is produced. This made our decision to return later for lunch, reserving a table. The food, atmosphere and staff are superb, friendly and good knowledge of the menu including the GF options. Another welcoming ‘must eat at ‘ venue if you have a GF diet or fancy authentic Italian cuisine with excellent quality food and reasonably priced. Will certainly...
