We went here yesterday for brunch, found a table to sit on outside, gorgeous views! I went in and ordered our food, paid, and went back to our table outside. First came out my iced coffee, the young man said is that everything you've ordered, I said no we've got a breakfast sandwich, a sausage sandwich and a latte to come, he looked puzzled and said oh ok, and walked off! Then a girl came over and said we seem to only have an order for an iced coffee...do you want to order food? I said well I've just been charged over 20 pound so I hope our food is ordered, then suddenly our food arrived while she was still stood there looking puzzled! Started eating our food...the egg in my husbands breakfast sandwich was like a lump of rubber...sausages were nice though, then eventually my husbands latte arrived, and the woman said it seems you didn't pay for this latte so can you pay for it on your way out!! Also after finishing eating, we got told to put my elderly tiny dog on the ground! Not only were we outside, the tables were already covered in garden debris and bits of food, and my dog was sat on MY lap, not touching anything to do with the cafe!!! A very chaotic uncomfortable brunch! Altogether not the best...
Read moreCafe Gorge is a great place to eat in Cheddar. We have eaten here twice during our stay. We bought takeaway freshly made sandwiches to take on a walk and they were amazing - thick slices of uncut bread, lots of local cheddar cheese and delicious onion chutney for me and a BLT for my husband made with freshly cooked bacon. Our second visit today was for lunch and we both had a Farmhouse Ploughman's - 2 pieces of thick cut bread, local cheddar, proper ham and a selection of homemade pickles and a lovely salad selection including half an apple, celery, cucumber and tomato. We bought an extra couple of award winning steak pasties for our dinner and a couple of slices of homemade tray bake cakes and everything was utterly delicious. The staff are fantastic and described what was on offer and also how to reheat the pasties for our dinner. I would highly recommend Cafe Gorge and it's amazing selection of local and...

The food was generously portioned, of outstanding quality, and offered a tempting variety of options to choose from. Knowing that the ingredients are locally sourced added an extra level of appreciation for the meal.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we felt truly well looked after. Despite the café being quite busy—a clear sign of its popularity—we never felt rushed, and the atmosphere remained warm and welcoming.
A visit to the cheese shop next door is also an absolute must! The selection of cheeses is fantastic, with something to suit every taste, and the friendly, knowledgeable staff make the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, Café Gorge delivered an exceptional dining experience, and the cheese shop next door is the perfect complement to the visit. Highly...
