Wow, what a lovely little cafe & shop!! My friend and I decided to walk inside just on a whim, since it looked warm inside and the chalkboard menu caught our attention. But once we found our way to the front counter and saw all the yummy baked goods right there out front, we knew we were staying here for a while lol. Cookies, cakes, brownies, croissants... Oh it was an artisanal Valhalla! My friend and I both went for the coffee & walnut cake, hers with a latte and mine with a hot chocolate. Can't speak for the latte since it wasn't mine (though I'm certain it was lovely!), but my goodness was this one of the best cups of hot chocolate I've purchased from a shop in a long time! It's honestly rare for me to find a place that makes hot chocolate anywhere comparable to my own at home, with "the works"! But this one was damn near perfect for me; a rich, milky, velvety, hot chocolate with marshmallows underneath the whipped cream so they can get nice and melty, while the cream melts over them. And with a wee Flake with it too?! Brilliant, such a nice touch!! I personally swirled that around in my cup and then dropped it in, letting it melt down before mixing it in completely. It turned out to be a very sweet cuppa hot choccy after that (but nothing I can't handle). Now Norah's coffee & walnut cake... That was perfectly sweet in the best way, wasn't under, wasn't over. Was just right! I'd say that was in the Goldilocks zone for sure, and the flavour was so delicious. Could taste the coffee, wasn't overpowering at all. Walnuts went perfectly with the icing, and a favourite of mine as well. Overall, we had such a lovely, quiet night out here, and the both of us reallyy enjoyed Norah's for the food, the bevs, and the casual, relaxed atmosphere. 5/5 stars, would give 6 if I could!!! We can't wait to come back again and try out more of the delicious items on the menu! Thank you for having us...
Read morePopped in to Cafe Norah for a quick coffee... the atmosphere was quaint with good tunes in the background from the likes of Carlos Santana, The Moody Blues, Led Zeppelin and many more. Even though it was really busy we wdre looked after and seated within a few minutes. After looking at the menu decided to have breakfast as everything on the menu sounded delicious. I chose the norah breakfast and my wife had the smashed avocado. Not knowing what to expect we were blown away. The food looked great and it tasted delocious. From the home made sourdough bread to the perfectly cooked poached eggs. The avocado was perfectly seasoned and the combination of the chilly heat and the zesty lime was delicious. My breakfast had home made fresh hash brown perfectly crispy on the outside and home made baked beans perfectly seasoned. The bacon was streaky and perfectly done not too crispy not too floppy. . The coffee was expertly prepared by the barista trained staff and it was a great cup of coffee. Overall a unexpected trip to a "random" cafe turned to a great morning experience for a couple...
Read moreMy partner and I visited Nora’s Coffee Shop in Cottingham on 12/09/25 around 4pm. We asked for two crumble desserts but were told the kitchen was closed, despite the café still being open — fair enough, we were prepared to let that go.
What really ruined the visit was the behaviour of a female staff member who showed absolutely no customer service skills. When I asked if we could still have the desserts served cold with our drinks, she raised her voice, waved her arms, and repeatedly shouted “the kitchen is closed!” It was only when I raised my voice back and clarified “can we eat it cold?” that she seemed to understand the request. She um'd and arr'd and eventually said we couldn't have them cold.
On top of this, I felt sorry for the young lad working alongside her — the way she spoke to him was just as unpleasant. He needs to stand up for himself.
We won’t be returning. Staff either need proper training or replacing, because that kind of customer service does not belong...
