Hallgate Tavern — Restaurant in England

The Hallgate Tavern is a fantastic pub. There is a traditional front room with bar facing onto the street. To the right of that is another room with the pool table. Further in to the pub is a another seating area and pool table, in a very large room with a long bar and stage at the end for live entertainment. This pub is enormous. But what made it even better for me is the three hand pulled cask conditioned real ales, including courage directors and wainwright's. The live music was Highway to Hull a brilliant AC/DC tribute band. There is a large outside seating area, TV screens and an internet jukebox. I'm also reliably informed it does excellent food. I held a party here for my son's return from duty and for him to bring his 4 month old daughter to meet his family and friends. The venue was excellent for our party we numbered 30 plus children. We were given a whole section of the pub to ourselves the food was excellent quality and lots of it. The staff were very friendly and did everything to ensure the occasion went smoothly and was very memorable. I was very pleased with the organising and execution on the day. Hats off to the cook and all the staff. Everything was freshly made on the day, served beautifully and cleared away quickly. Excellent job. I will return for the next celebration. I've not even had my food yet but am giving the hallgate tavern 5 stars! We are not local but we were just given the warmest welcome ever. We had been to another pub with our well behaved pooch and we just got stared at like we had three heads because unbeknown to us they were not dog friendly!

The man in the Hallgate Tavern was the complete opposite, he welcomed the three of us in, told us we could sit wherever we like and gave us some little bones for our boy! This man is an asset!
