I went here with my partner we were absolutely starving. Previously a carvary was displayed here and it was lovely. What a big change! Immediately you can notice how unclean the place is even on an early Sunday it was exceptionally unclean. Even the beer mats stunk and the tables were awful and covered and spilt beer from the previous evening. None of the plates off of tables had been removed and on first impressions it wasn't good. However, we gave the place the benefit considering it was only 1 on a Sunday afternoon and maybe the previous evening was a late one so we ordered 2 beef Sunday lunches. We went up into the restaraunt it wasn't busy a few tables in but nothing much. The staff was exceptionally unfriendly and uncommintive. I tried to have a discussion with a waitress who walked off mid conversation I only wanted some sauce! She then Shouted across the room about me and my partner because we moved from upstairs to a more cleaner table. She shouted to ask "where have them customers moved to" exceptionally loud across the whole pub which I didn't appreciate at all. Not once did a memeber of staff come and see if we wanted a drink or if we were ok. So when the food finally came after an hour wait considering it wasn't busy at all it was awful to the point we didn't eat it. The beef was like rubber, the stuffing was like clay and had no taste to it, the green beans, peas and carrots were all raw defiently did not see a steamer! And the gravy was just water. My cutlery was filthy ! And the "napkins" were kitchen roll and had actually stuck to my cutlery. We got a full refund! I would definelty not recommend !!!!!!! Staff need to learn to waitress and get some manners, the place needs a desperate clean and the food needs well needs a chef ! I understand it is a pub and I don't expect bistro meal but I do exspect edible food which I didn't receive ! After my complaint they offered me a free meal .... are you having a laugh .... really ? I would rather stay in a cook myself thanks...
Read moreThe atmosphere was warm and welcoming, staff friendly and attentive. Not too busy but enough of a buzz to feel social - quiet enough to talk but with a humm of background chatter. The pub has a pool table, billiards table, darts and a couple of games machines providing further options. However, these were tucker out the way rather than dominating which again meant you can either sit away to chat and enjoy a chat if you want too or have a game in an area that was secluded - best of both worlds! The lighting was warm which was welcome on a chilli evening. To top it off 3 bottles of bulmers for...
Read moreWent there with a few friends. We ordered two half pints, a pint and a j2o, after we had literally just finished the drinks some rude man came over and had a go at us saying there is not alot of drink buying. Funny thing i was about to go to the bar and buy a round for us. His attitude put us off completely so we left and went to a different place (where we enjoyed the rest of our night). Apparently it's not the first time this man has been rude to people about drink buying. Will not be going here again. That man needs some serious social...
