Cucina — Restaurant in England

I have a number of food allergies which does take a lot of joy out of eating, but I still manage to eat out as restaurants are really understanding these days. I have to eat quite plainly but I've found restaurants to be very accommodating but not Cucina! There wasn't much I could have, so asked for the prawns without the garlic and tomato sauce but was told I couldn't have them as it would be too boring. I said I didn't mind and that I couldn't eat garlic, but the waiter just shrugged his shoulders and said 'going to an Italian restaurant and not having garlic is like going to a pub and not having beer', I thought he was just making a joke, but he said I couldn't have them, so that was the end of it. It was really embarrassing and a bit upsetting to be spoken to like that. I agree it would have been better with garlic, but as the only option was to have nothing I thought he would do it, but no. Perhaps everything is pre- prepared in the sauce or they just don't care about individual customers on a busy Saturday. I won't be going back and would suggest anyone with allergies steer clear, they have gluten free pasta on the menu, but clearly their staff are not interested...

If you are in the area, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. When many places had stopped serving food, I called this restaurant who accommodated us despite being very near to closing time and they did not rush us and made us feel very welcome. The team were great, they were italian and you could tell by the quality of the food served. We had the scallops to start and they were so tender, they melted in your mouth and were fresh and full of flavour, I was thoroughly impressed. For Mains, we both had pizzas which were fresh and delicious and the generous portions meant we took half home with us as well. Excellent place for service and food and if I am visiting the area again, I would definitely go back there.
