I'm sorry to leave this low rating review, but I am left with no choice, as the owner didn't try to resolve my issue? I ordered about 9.30pm on Wednesday evening, I asked for a "set meal with mixed starter and another mixed starter" When it arrived there was just one set meal and no extra mixed grill starter, I paid £20 so was sure I had paid for the extra starter. When I called the man/owner was quite rude.. He said it was my fault 'that I had ordered incorrectly... I have ordered the same way for 20 years so don't know what was difficult about ordering 2 items a 'set meal and extra starter'... Anyhow what is shocking is he never offered to drop one off for us, also he said I had not been charged for it?? He said it was £17 for set meal for one plus delivery, just short of £20 for one 'set 3 course meal, or go to eat on-site for £6 cheaper than a takeaway, you get 4 coursers for £13.90?? That does not add up?? The set meal used to be £12.95?
So how much is a set meal for one takeaway now??? Please inform me?
I'm thinking your pricing yourself out of the market, people will not pay £20 a person for a takeaway... No way!! Really poor customer service... Is it worth all the agro "why not try to resolve issues and complaints direct when you have them on the phone" instead of allowing people to feel wronged and unresolved and then talk about you in a negative...
Read moreOkay, went to Curry Leaf last night as Sunam was fully booked.
On entering, the lighting seemed a tad too bright, didn't feel especially atmospheric.
Sat down, got noticed after 15 mins or so for a drink order, then had to wait another 30 odd mins to be presented with poppadums and accoutrements (including a very nice, rather hot relish) , and then another 30 mins for food orders.
The food was okay, had a reasonable lamb jalfrezi, and especially enjoyed the tasty mixed veg rice I had with it. Wasn't especially impressed with the cheese and onion naan (esp as they seemed to have filled it with orange squeezy cheese and not very much onion).
To be fair to Curry Leaf, there did seem to be only one chap doing the most, if not all of the front of house/waiter work in what was a mostly full restaurant, occasionally punctuated by two other staff appearing from time to time - one appearing to hand over takeaways, and the other popping up to do paperwork behind the bar.
Overall, I'd say it was okay, one thing that really let Curry Leaf down was the waiting times (as mentioned above) - maybe more serving staff are needed to lower waiting times and lower the workload of the poor sod running...
Read moreWe usually eat at the Sunam but when trying to make a booking they were full, so we opted for here (a few doors down).
Originally the booking was for a party of 14 at 1900, but when we got there it was split over a longer table down the centre then another to the side (which I originally said it was fine to do) but as some of our party arrived later to the side table, they still held off on any orders until nearly 2000 - even drinks and starters took some time coming.
Although it's not a large place, it did seem to have only two staff trying to manage the entire room with one attempting to ferry takeout orders.
The meal, when it arrived, was good: I couldn't fault it - and neither could the rest of the party, who all said that it was frustrating it took so long (we didn't leave until 2100) yet all agreed that the meal was delightful. Based on that alone I'm still willing to return there someday because of the comprehensive selection and the food quality, but I'll certainly look at booking earlier if there's...
