Maddisons — Restaurant in England

Myself and my friend visited for lunch with our 2 children aged 7 and 10, we were welcomed in and sat down at a table but there was spilt coleslaw all over the floor under our feet which ended up on my sons trainers. We moved table ourself and made the waitress aware.

Myself and friend ordered the club sandwich, this came and it was VERY dry!! Both came with no tomatoes, the toast was extremely burnt with no butter, tiny bit of mayo and off lettuce, we picked off the chicken and bacon and left the rest as it wasn’t edible.

The children had a toastie and kids breakfast, toastie was dry, not buttered and the breakfast was fine but a portion was small and my son had to have something else when we left.

We would not recommend and would not return unfortunately.

I hate giving independent businesses a low rating and this is specifically for their coffee. The coffee is truly awful. Why don't they send their staff on a proper barista course? Offering two sizes of flat white is so wrong! We tried an experiment over a few weeks and tried their cappuccinos and flat whites. Aaaagh, awful. They were all the same - like Americanos with the tiniest bit of froth on top that disappeared as soon as you looked at it. There is a reason that people go back to the likes of Costa and Starbucks time and time again. Because the coffee is good. We go out for a coffee and cake at least once a week and would love to support local businesses over chains but with coffee like this there is no chance we are going back. Plus the waiter...

The food was somewhat lacklustred, especially for the price and such a limited menu.

The service was ok i guess, only a few issues but to list them will tell the staff exactly who I am, although im sure the ritual humiliation from the waiting staff seemed to be so nature that it can only be a common occurrence.

The atmosphere, its quite a cold venue, rather blank and empty lacking anything of substance to make it feel modern or welcoming, the walls are covered in cuts, gouges and such, paint is chipped everywhere and even the furniture is dirty and tables are more crooked than a politician. And if anyone makes a noise it echos so when 3 Karen's sit at the back, noone can speak because you cant hear the people...
