The food is excellent. The staff are excellent. I’m a regular customer of 9 years. I’d recommend booking, not because it’s always busy. Weekends can be busy, esp at peak times. I just think it’s best to book ahead as even though there are always plenty of staff, it may help the team deal with your booking in addition to a large group booking. For example, if they have a large table at 7:30, it makes sense for you to book and order at 7:15 rather than get stuck behind a large table’s order. I love all the dishes. The Nepali menu is a bonus. Lamb Baglunge is a personal favourite. The staff are friendly and kind people that care about the food they put out. I lived in Reading for 9 years and had lots of good Indian restaurants there, but Diwali is the best. A bit of a hidden gem! The car park is accessed via a side road, so it’s easy to park if collecting or dining in. Collection gets a discount on orders over £15 I think. I love Diwali, and whenever I take friends there they are impressed. Fresh, tasty, genuine food with quality ingredients and meat. As an example I had the salmon tikka starter tonight. Never tried it but have fancied trying it for ages. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, not dry. Highly recommended. I hope you give it a try and support a local business rather than...
Read moreOutstanding , everything about this place oozes quality. From the newly refurbished premises to the posh take away bags. The prawn vindaloo was packed with flavour and the exact level of heat I love from a vindaloo. Chicken tikka masala was cooked perfectly and flavoursome. Palau rice; perfect. The vegetable samosas are to be admired. Been here 3 times now and haven’t been let down with the portions or quality at any point. The visits were, 2 take-outs and 1 sit in meal. Located at the end of Westcott place nr the greyhound you’d be mistaken to think that there is nowhere to park, however if you drive into the alleyway on the left located between West One salons and The Greyhound pub you’ll find an ample car park behind Diwalis with enough space to accommodate at least 16 regular cars (or 42 smart cars). My only little gripe is; every indian restaurant I’ve ever visited offer poppadums as complimentary with the 3 dips on the table so I was disappointed to be charged £1 each for them in the restaurant although I did get 2 complimentary popps on both my take-away meals? Diwali are going to do a banquet set meal special on a Sunday and I imagine this will surely rival Llalbaghs Sunday buffet. We’ll see? Love this new indian restaurant keep up the...
Read more"We are very busy, you may leave if you can't wait", answer from Diwali waitress after a wait of 50mts on 3rd may 2024 evening. I was on table by 9:00 pm and my food was not served until 9:52 pm. When I ask this was her answer. Am a frequent customer to Diwali Swindon, use to enjoy evenings for Indian food and drinks. But hereafter am not going to return back to them neither order food for home delivery. Diwail - Pls train your staff before employing them, their frustrations and arrogance should be within kitchen and not customer facing.
You be in your busy, so I left to enjoy my evening at another Jewel in the town.
I use to have good experience with a tall gentleman who use to serve me, and Chef use to prepare my fav Nepali Yam dish too. Chef as well use to come to table for a feedback on my fav dish. Their total friendly impression is spoiled with this instance. I use to like the food as well. But no more hereafter, there are ample of other places that I can explore in Swindon and can enjoy Prime and Netflix at home ordering home delivery food than facing arrogance from a waitress that spoils my evening mood. Thanks you be...
