Our Delightful Breakfast Experience
A Memorable Start to a Shopping Day Our day began with an early morning visit to a charming little restaurant before heading to the Swindon Designer Outlet for a day of shopping. This breakfast stop turned out to be a delightful start to a day.
Arrival and Ambiance
As we entered the resturant, we were immediately greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior was tastefully decorated with cozy seating arrangements, making us feel right at home. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods filled the air, setting the perfect tone for our breakfast.
The Menu
The menu offered a variety of breakfast options, catering to different tastes and preferences. After a brief moment of deliberation, I decided to indulge in a classic full English breakfast, while my wife opted for the Eggs Florentine. We were pleased to find that the café had a special offer of two meals for £15, which was a great deal. Additionally, we ordered two breakfast teas, costing £5.90 in total.
The Full English Breakfast
My full English breakfast was a feast for the senses. The plate was generously filled with all the traditional components: 2 crispy bacon, 2 succulent sausages, 2 perfectly cooked eggs, baked beans, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, 3 hash browns and a slice of toast. Each item was cooked to perfection, and the flavors harmonized beautifully. The bacon was crispy yet tender, the sausages were juicy and flavourful, and the eggs were cooked just the way I liked them. The baked beans, hashbrowns, mushrooms, and tomatoes added a delightful touch to the meal, making it a satisfying and hearty breakfast.
The Eggs Florentine
My wife’s Eggs Florentine was a delightful sight to behold. The dish consisted of two perfectly poached eggs resting on a bed of fresh spinach, all atop a toasted English muffin, and generously drizzled with a rich hollandaise sauce. The eggs were poached to perfection, with the yolks oozing out beautifully upon cutting. The spinach was fresh and tender, complementing the creamy hollandaise sauce. The English muffin provided the perfect base, its slight crunch adding texture to each bite. My wife was thoroughly pleased with her choice, savouring each mouthful.
The Service
The service at the café was exemplary. The staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient. Despite the café being quite busy, our orders arrived promptly. The waitstaff ensured that we had everything we needed, checking in with us periodically without being intrusive. Their professionalism and warmth added to the overall positive experience.
Value for Money
One of the standout aspects of our visit was the incredible value for money. The special offer of two meals for £15 was an excellent deal, especially considering the quality and portion sizes of the dishes. The additional cost of £5.90 for two breakfast teas was also reasonable, making our entire breakfast experience affordable yet satisfying.
Quality of Food
The quality of the food exceeded our expectations. Each dish was prepared with care and attention to detail, using fresh and high-quality ingredients. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation was appealing. It was evident that the café took pride in the food they served, and this was reflected in the taste and overall dining experience.
Conclusion
Our breakfast experience at the café was nothing short of delightful. From the warm and inviting ambiance to the delicious food and exceptional service, every aspect of our visit was enjoyable. The value for money was outstanding, and we left the café feeling satisfied and happy. We are already looking forward to our next visit, eager to indulge in more of their delectable offerings.
Our morning meal set a positive tone for the rest of the day, and we couldn't have asked for a better start to our shopping adventure at the Swindon Designer Outlet. This café has certainly earned a special place in our hearts, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic...
Read moreThis place is a very mixed bag. The food is mostly fantastic. We had had their steaks several times before, and the tomahawk steak yesterday was incredible. They also really excel in sauces. My chunky chips, however, were floppy, and there was no veg and very little greens to go with the dish.
What I do have to complain about though, is their service. Now, I understand it was a busy evening, probably way busier than usual. It was also predictable. And to be honest, the service had never been that great there, anyway, but yesterday just dragged it down to the bottom.
The initial drink order was taken after a normal wait, but it all went downhill after that. Overall we just sat there for 20 minutes before someone came to take our order. Then they had to grab another tablet, because I pre-ordered my main when making reservation, and apparently it was somehow confusing - another 5-minute wait. Then we waited for the tomahawk, and I appreciate it takes 30 mins longer than other steaks, because it's such a thick cut. Still, the staff should've been aware of this pre-order, and adjusted the timings of order collections accordingly. The biggest blunder, however, came after the main meal, when we had to wait 25 minutes(!!!) for anyone to pick up our plates. We had to ask for the dessert menu ourselves, specifically. And then, we waited another 10 minutes for anyone to take any interest in us just sitting there, by our table, with menus in our hands, and empty drink glasses. At this point I was so fed up with waiting for over half an hour, that I stood up, paid for my meal by the bar, and we just left.
Overall, our visit was over two hours long, and during that time we were able to enjoy only the main and two drinks, because nobody would actually wait on us. There seemed to be only one person taking care of patrons in two areas, and she was working her behind off. All the other puppets were just sitting people down, and carrying food, but nobody was actually helping take orders, clean up tables, handle bills, payments. etc. It all fell on that one poor girl handling the entire upstairs, bless her.
All in all, good food does not justify an otherwise unsatisfactory experience. I'll think not even twice, but three times before booking with them again. Which is a shame, because apart from decent food, the place also looks nice, and they carry a nice...
Read moreNot the best experience. I booked a table here for my partner and I, for our weekly date night. The table was booked for 8pm so we arrived at 7:55pm and we were asked to take a seat in the bar area as they didn't have a table available for us. After 20 minutes in the bar area, where we weren't offered the option of ordering a drink, we were seated at 8:15pm.
A live act started playing guitar and singing, although it was very loud, he was brilliant and we certainly enjoyed all the music he played.
Jess was our waitress and I can't fault her at all, she was polite, had a personality and wasn't just a robot! She took our orders and it wasn't very long before the starters came out. The food was very well presented, seasoned well and tasted delicious.
After our starters we waited 45 minutes for our mains to arrive. I ordered the 16oz rib eye which was ordered medium, but unfortunately arrived blue... It was kindly returned to the kitchen and then brought back out to me around 10 minutes later. The steak had been cooked further but the outside had been burned and was really bitter to taste and yet the inside was still rare. Jess was brilliant and had the order removed from our bill as I didn't eat very much of it at all. I am not a fussy person and this is the first time I have ever returned food to a restaurant kitchen. My partner had the fillet steak and her meal was cooked lovely.
I don't think we will be returning because ultimately a steak house that can't get steak right, even on the second time of asking, sounds alarm bells and if you can't fulfill a reservation then you shouldn't allow it to be booked (we weren't the only people waiting in the bar area as there wasn't any tables). But I must say the musician and Jess the waitress...
