Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Great Britain

7pm 20/07/22 After spending an enjoyable afternoon with my husband and grandson in the outlet centre, we were all very hungry so went to Giraffe, a restaurant we’d never been to which looked inviting. Very few people were in there so plenty of tables to choose from. We moved three times because the air conditioning was blowing cold air on us which was uncomfortable. Before I ordered my food, I saw the waitress serve fish and chips to four people so I decided to have this too as I thought it must be cooked fresh. After taking our orders, all our meals were served within five minutes so obviously were reheated and not fresh. How can anyone ruin fish and chips, but they did. The batter on my fish was rock hard and inside was very little fish which was overcooked and dry. The fries too were overcooked and hard. This was served with a small pot of very dry mushy peas. I didn’t bother to complain because my husband and grandson who had ordered different meals said their meals were ok and the waitress kept looking at her watch because the restaurant was due to close at 8pm. I just picked at what I could, we paid the bill and left. My meal cost £12.50 and it was the worst fish and chips I have ever had. 21/07/22 I woke up feeling sick, in pain and now have very bad diarrhoea. My daughter and Son in law took me out for lunch but I was a bit put off when we were shown our table I have anxiety issues snd and sitting in the middle of a room is too stressful so I asked to move to the edge. I was given an evil state and told we could not sit in a booth because of the pram. With a glare we were then sat on the edge tables given our menus and just left to the point of being ignored. The waiter hung around the service area making a point of not looking at us I tried to catch his attention but to no avail so I got up to leave. He soon got himself over asking if we were ready to order, My response was no I am ready to leave. My daughter told me I would regret leaving as the food was lovely so I stayed and am so glad. My humous small plate was delicious the burst of pomegranate and red onion just so nice, this was followed by a banana waffle which was too good for words. My daughter and son in law enjoyed their meals too. We did not see the waiter again, but a lovely young lady served us which I was thankful for. Greeted well on arrival and asked whether we had a reservation and seated promptly. Once seated we were advised of the changes made due to the pandemic, then asked if we would like drinks. Once served we were given time to decide on food which was appreciated. My partner had ordered Salmon teryaki which unfortunately was overcooked but the rice and vegetables were good, I had ordered a bacon cheeseburger which was fine though a little dry. Upon trying to get our bill we were completely ignored, trying to attract any of the servers attention was near impossible and took around ten minutes to get someone to bring it over, which had already had an 'optional' tip added to the bill. The main negative from this experience was not due to the staff but to be participating in the eat out to help out but refuse all other discounts is very unusual considering all other businesses participating are honouring any other deals on offer and this feels like a way for the business to make even more money.
