Dukes Head — Restaurant in England

Came here with a few mates because of a recommendation, we went out to the garden because it was quite stuffy inside, and when we went inside to order a few drinks, the person behind the bar just decides to kick us out because we "don't look 18" even though we are all 18, have ID, and are willing to show. But they didn't care, just asked us to leave instantly. Would not recommend at all. A practically empty pub that kick out the few people willing to buy there.

Edit, responding to their response: We are a group of 5 18 year olds just finished college and went out to celerbrate. We went in and went out to the back as its currently boiling in the UK for about 15 minutes and didnt make any disturbance as some young people do, while 2 people went the loo. We went back in to play pool and order drinks when we asked for change for the pool table we were questioned and told we were suspicous because we "hid" outside and in the bathroom, but we were all willing to provide ID's immediately and was told it wasn't good enough and to leave. This is exactly what happened.

Another edit: it's sad to see a business that's clearly struggling (3.9 stars, only had two customers besides us) act so hostile towards the few people willing to go there. We were all more than happily to show valid ID, but it seems you either don't care, or can't tell a fake one from a real one (concerning). They then have the audacity to call this a "fake review" despite it being a completely genuine review.

I would not recommend anyone to go to this pub, they don't deserve...

Adrian and Julie hosted my wife Sarah's 40th birthday party on the 23/03/13, Adrian provided us with various options for food, music etc and we settled on what in my opinion was an excellent deal for a full Hog Roast, two types of buffet, a variety of salads and side dishes with disco included.

It was an absolutely fantastic evening, we had IRO 70 guests and the food was excellent and in abundance, the Hog was cooked to perfection, (cracklin was served in beer glasses) and the buffet dishes were fantastic and very popular with our guests. The quality of the food was in a word "superb" and was certainly a WOW factor for the evening.

Nothing was too much trouble for Adrian and he worked really hard to ensure that we were happy and that everyone was having a good time. The ladies loved the disco as much as the chap's enjoyed the Hog Roast and the excellent beer - oh, and did I mention the excellent beer!!!

Adrian and Julie are both exceptional and generous hosts, both Sarah and I have no hesitation in highly recommending them, their food and their establishment and wish them every success...

This use to be my local many years ago and I was so happy to see it re-opened.

Eddie and Claire work well together and there is always a friendly welcome, from both of them, when entering their pub.

This couple have the right balance of being friendly and firm and this shows in their management technique.

When they first opened and as they sell real ale, I decided to go and try a pint of Brakspear Gravity @ 3.4% which was kept well and an enjoyable pint of Amber Ale. Brakspear and Marstons have a long-standing relationship so I asked Eddie if he could get Marston's Pedigree 4.3%. Within two weeks it arrived and it is a very nice pint. This is my favourite tipple and Eddie thanked me for my suggestion.

They are both hard working people and deserve to flourish in their new venture at the Dukes Head, Wokingham

I cannot comment on food, at the moment, as their kitchen is closed, but they do offer the option for food to be consumed on their premises and they will even supply...
