EFES TURKISH RESTAURANT — Restaurant in England

I really had high hopes for this place. Turkish food has been my favorite since I was a small boy and so was deeply hoping for a good result.

Unfortunately the reality was far from good. The food was poor… definitely in the bottom 3 places I have ever eaten. To add insult to injury the previous reviews about poor customer service were also on full show. Personally my interaction with the owner over something as simple as taking the order was very curt and arrogant, with no change when it came to pay.

Finally do NOT come here if you are a family and have kids under 10. Some of us had the unfortunate experience of watching the owner kicked out a family because their 3yr old started crying after she accidentally bit her cheek.

The mother was doing what mums do and was trying to console her daughter but after about 30 secs the owner came over and asked them to leave because” you can not control your daughter and you shouldn’t come to restaurants unless you can!” The father tried to explain but he wouldn’t hear it, instead stating that the child was disturbing the “entire restaurant”. It should be noted that the was the total of 7 customers in the restaurant, 4 of which where the family in question! The couple in the corner spoke up and said not an issue for them. The father asked about getting food to go, but again the owner said no and please leave.

It really was a disgusting and disappointing situation to witness and after the family left the owner never once apologized but instead kept disturbing the rest of us with comments like “don’t you agree, they should stay home, etc?” Everyone remained silent and just left as quickly as possible. A real shame… because Turkish food done correctly...

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was disappointing. Upon arrival, we were met with an irritable and unwelcoming staff member—presumably the manager—who refused to seat us in a warmer area, stating he was “picky about where customers sit.”

The restaurant was unbearably cold; my wife and I had to keep our coats on throughout the meal, as did several other diners.

Service was painfully slow. It took 15 minutes for our order to be taken and another 25 minutes before our food arrived. We had ordered four starters, but instead of being served beforehand, they were brought out with our mains—completely defeating the purpose of a starter.

Portion sizes have also noticeably shrunk. The skewers, which used to be a decent size, now consist of tiny cubes of meat, barely larger than dice.

It was clear the manager was understaffed, with only himself and a delivery driver working on a busy Friday evening. This not only led to poor service but also created an overall tense and unpleasant atmosphere. His interactions with other customers were passive-aggressive and rude, making the experience even worse.

This is not the first time I’ve encountered issues here. Having dined at this restaurant four times before, each visit has been similarly disappointing. Unfortunately, this was my last. I won’t...

Really disappointing after hearing great reviews from people my husband and i went in over the lunchtime period well for starters the chef wasnt even present! Was told to take a seat from im guessing the owner he didnt ask us if we wanted a drink while we were waiting was waiting 20 mins and in comes running the chef he looked an absolute state his uniform was filthy covered in food looked like he had just got out of bed he came over no apology just said " yea what do you want?" So we asked for the lunchtime special deal which he shrugged his shoulders and rudely said " no just the main menu" we tried to explain that on their website they did offers and deals he said no and walked towards the door opened it and said "bye" I have never been so annoyed with food service as I have today so unorganized and very poor customer service skills from our experience today alone we will not return!...
