Lotus Flower Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in England

8 of us went here and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The owner had to cook for us due to their chef visiting family is Thailand, so couldn't host us for the most of the evening.

My food was very authentic and tasted fantastic. I asked the rest of my party and they were very satisfied with their food. The owner was able to come out of the kitchen and delivered amazing customer service by thanking us for coming, making us all laugh and was overall a sweet woman.

After paying, she asked if it was anyone's birthday where someone in my group jokingly said it was my birthday! She scurried back to the kitchen, then swiftly appeared singing "Happy Birthday" holding an apple with birthday candles on a plate decorated with Celebrations sweets.

Definitely contemplating coming again for a meal in September when the main chef is back and the owner is able to give us all of her attention with her...

Great Thai food - the right balance of sweet, sour, salty, creamy and umami. It was also great how the dishes could be adjusted regarding content - beef and prawn massaman, when only chicken massaman is on the menu, and tom ka gai when only tom yum soups are on the menu. They also go the spiciness just right for my family’s varied requests that ranges form medium to Thai hot. The shrimp skewers was an item I never had before and was really good. I particularly like how well it was fried, the quality of the shrimp, and the choice of a savory chili sauce in addition to the typical Thai restaurant sweet chilli sauce, which was also...

Massive disappointment.

I could hardly start let alone finish. I've given it to the dog, and I'm never coming back.

The duck tastes off. I'm not alleging it is off, but it tastes off, like it's on the turn. It has literally got a grey sheen to it. Maybe it's the way it was cooked. It tastes a bit like bad breath, to be honest. The curry sauce tastes nothing like any Thai curry sauce I've had in Thailand or England in my life. It tastes like nothing, like flour and water.

This place used to be really good. Either it's changed hands or the chef has stopped bothering to taste the food before...
