After reading the numerous positive reviews on Google, I decided to book a table for 2 on the 14th of April, and I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant.
First impressions are important and I was not disappointed at all, friendly staff, small cosy restaurant with some character. Menu prices, for a city centre, are reasonable and so are the drinks.
The steak that I ordered was somewhat of a disappointment. I personally went for the 14oz medium Rump with chips. The steak was more on the Medium-rare side, but that’s still Ok, better than medium -well, however, it lacked temperature. This was not helped by serving the steak on a COLD plate. This, in my opinion , is a serious mistake and any restaurant manager or chef should be embarrassed by this. The chips were warm but NOT hot.
I mentioned to the waitress that the steak was cold by the time I got half way through, and I am by no means a slow eater. The waitress dealt with this issue in a professional way. The steak returned in good time and on a warmer plate and with a fresh bowl of HOT chips. The steak itself was tender enough for a rump, but it was missing flavour, no trace of pre-seasoning, I added a side order of sauce, you really shouldn’t be charging £2.50 (ish) for a really small portion of blue cheese sauce, I’m not joking, the portion of this sauce wouldn’t fill an egg cup.
You need sort to out the entrance, when the door opens you get a sharp cold draft on your back. Oddly, there is also a cold draft coming down the stairs. Maybe have a double entrance door or a screen for the colder days? I booked the table via your website and gave my contact details, if you want to discuss my reviews, please feel...
Read moreRecommended in York. Superb Argentinean steak and could be the best in town. Suitable price for the quality and size of the meals and service. We had the chorizo and nachos as a starter with Argentinian beer and a cider. For the mains, we has the large (400g) Chuleton (rib eye) and bife de chorizo (sirloin strip). The mains were literally perfectly cooked (medium and medium rare), very tasty and juicy. The dish came with wild rocket salad and chips. You are given the option of any sauce with the salad and steak. We preferred the Chimichurri with the steaks. We also had with the meat a bootle of organic wine “Passo Doble” Malbec and it was perfect with the steaks. The kids had the chips, salad and vegetables and came as part of the main meals which was great. The kids had pineapple juice but we had many juices to choose from. The waiters Augustin and Augustina were very good, welcoming and friendly. The owner, cook and waiters are all from Argentina, so it was as we were in Argentina for a moment. Very enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere. The place is well arranged and looked after with an Argentinian steak house decor. Will come back with my family. Gracias chicos. Nos...
Read moreWent here yesterday after reading the reviews and all I can say is how disappointed I was. Ordered the stuffed pepper for starter which turned out to be a small slice of pepper not a whole pepper with bolognaise and cheese . It was nice but not worth the money . My partner ordered garlic mushrooms which were warm but not hot . Mains I had a 14oz rib eye , it was ok but not worth the money . I have always had amazing streaks in Argentinian steak houses before but not here. My partner had a mixed grill and the sirloin steak was full of gristle and the worst cut of sirloin I have ever seen , she told the staff and they didn’t care . Salad is just a few varied leaves with a vinaigrette and not a salad . Service wasn’t great , we sat for ages waiting for drinks then I had to get their attention when we needed another . The vegetables were almost raw and dried out. The toilets were disgusting very dated in desperate need of replacing . There are much better places to eat in York and I suggest you give...
